I always feel as though legal violations among immigrants should be treated the same way they are for citizens. If you break the law, you should have to go to jail. I think that any status change should come after the time has been served. Don't get me wrong, I don't agree that a small drug violation should cause a deportation, but I do think that blanket policy works in this context.
