Colorlines Report: 205K Deportations of Parents of U.S. Citizens since 2010

Seth Freed Wessler of Colorlines News for Action reports that there have been nearly 205,000 parents of United States citizen children deported since 2010. The data was obtain through a Freedom of Information Act request. The full statistics compiled regarding final orders sought, obtained, and actual removals of individuals claiming to be parents of United States citizen children may be viewed here.

Maybe it is time for the Obama administration to consider expanding deferred action to parents of United States citizen children as a stop gap measure until immigration reform is implemented.  I'd also add spouses of United States citizens to the list as well.

Need to unite families not tear them apart, people with old criminal convictions who have strong family yies like US citizen spouse and childrens, remember these folks after their conviction they received their punishments, so basicly thay being punished twice for the same crime, and whats even more worse on topof that they being taken away form their kids wifes husbands families, now what kind of justice is this,where is the faimily unity where our immigration laws are supposed to based on, America is tearing up families.

Yes, I read the report, and in response I suggested that the Obama administration consider extending deferred action to parents and spouses of United States citizens which would prevent their deportation.

Did you read the news report? People who are being deteoprd are not typically walking around town, packing their bags, and saying good-bye to folks; they are in ICE's custody. Most of them would love to take their children with them, but their children need passports, plane tickets, and many are of an age that they need to be escorted. People who are detained can't do any of these things. I don't get where the lack of compassion comes from. Some people have lived here for over a decade, but you have no sympathy for their children who are separated from their parents. It's like your hatred is so strong that you don't care who it mows down. We are talking about families, we are talking about children. These kids are US citizens; they are your neighbors and they live down the street. But you have no sympathy. I feel sorry for you.
