Rate this Entry
Bloomberg is reporting that former Bush Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez is leaving his senior position at Citigroup to chair Republicans for Immigration Reform, a group he helped co-found. Gutierrez has been a leading voice in the GOP pushing his party to support comprehensive immigration reform. Let's wish him success.

So , How does Republican version of the CIR look like? Does Mr. Gutierrez support a separate and special pathway to green card and citizenship.

S, Gutierrez has one thing he says over and over: "we cannot grow economically without a growing workforce". That is so obviously untrue it's hard to take seriously anything he says.

If what you says is true, Belarus and Japan will be the fastest growing countries in the world. There are many Singaporeans like you who would rather become Belarus but at least they are being and honest and saying they will take a 1% growth rate...they may not be happy when they get a 1% growth rate..but that is a different story.

George, Gutierrez explicitly says no growth without workforce growth. The first time you see it you think he must have misspoke, but he has made the same false assertion over and over again in different ways--in order to sell CIR. He's either a liar or completely lacking in basic economic knowledge.
