Anti-Immigrant Group's New Strategy: Latinos Don't Vote So Go Ahead and Bash Away

Rate this Entry

The media has been reporting a great deal about how Republicans are in big trouble as minority voters are shifting more and more to the Democrats. That's made some of the grown ups in the GOP - people like Karl Rove and Jeb Bush - nervous. Fearing that moderates might start to gain some traction in arguing for the Republicans to move more to the center on immigration, the Center for Immigration Studies is releasing a report trying to convince the GOP to ignore the data - and common sense - and pretend that Hispanic voters really don't matter.

I'm not sure who wants the GOP to buy this more - the Center for Immigration Studies or the Democratic National Committee?

The goal of racists at CIS such as Camarotta, Vaughn and Kirkorian is to keep this country white. They are desperate. To some extent they sound like death row inmates who are concerned about their lives being taken without mentioning what brought them to this predicament. What brought them to this predicament are three things: (i) too much interference in other countries, eg. Vietnam; (ii) running up the national debt..CIS is very worried that Chinese are buying up property in Huntington Beach...typical death row inmate syndrome; and (iii) crimes committed during the Jim Crow days. They really need to be thankful that African Americans are not marrying foreign blacks in any numbers and bringing the spouses and their families to this country. If that ever happened America will become majority-minority by 2020, not 2050. If I had committed the crimes that the ancestors of CIS folks had committed in places such as Rosewood and Tulsa, I will be afraid of the coming change too!

I think the GOP strategy is exactly that try to peel off voters by demoralizing their desire to vote for Obama. They know they can't win the Latino vote. Also if you hear the mostly Cuban American Romney advisers also keep telling him that Immigration does not matter is just the economy so do not worry about your past positions on the matter.
