Green Card Stories

Rate this Entry

I don't plug books very often, but I do think readers will enjoy the new book Green Card Stories which was produced by my friends Steve Yale-Loehr and Laura Danielson. Steve, by the way, has co-authored the J-1 Visa Guidebook with me and Bill Stock annually since 1997.

Book-cover-med
As the name suggests, the coffee table book profiles immigrants. 50 stories of people from countries around the world who have settled across the US are told in a way that shows the dramatic variations in people's backgrounds, but also the common features in their immigrant experiences.

The book can be purchased in bookstores, on book store web sites and directly from the publisher. Just go to www.greencardstories.com . Well worth the purchase and proceeds help the American Immigration Council which fights for a more just immigration system.

U.S. "Genius" visa attracts Playmates with "extraordinary abilities" with open arms.

That kind of success has put Wright on the map as the go-to visa fixer for both Hollywood and Silicon Valley. It also highlights the use of so-called genius visas known as O-1s and EB-1s, which have largely escaped political controversy and are now the immigration solution of choice for many entrepreneurs.

Granting a playboy playmate an extraordinary ability visa is like a resounding slap in the face of other extraordinarily skilled candidates. I would understand if it is granted to someone who has won an Academy award or a Grammy but this...

I don't think so. Its a natural progression from best and the brightest to the bold and the beautiful. And American Eagle needs some of them badly seems like

I know Master degree holders with 10+ years of experience in niche tech field are running between pillar to post, just get their EB2 approved.

    Just saying.

Republicans go on offensive on immigration ?????

Election Day might be just five months away, but that shouldn't stop Congress from doing its job now. Congress still has an opportunity to work across party lines and take up immigration bills that will help put Americans back to work and make our country safer - Lamar Smith
