Rating: 4 votes, 5.00 average.

Steve Case was one of the key figures in the private sector who worked on the recently passed JOBS Act. He's now ready to push for a skilled worker immigration bill and thinks one might be able to pass before the November election. Reuters reports.

We heard similar "nice" things regarding skilled immigration in 2008, 2007, 2006, 2002...and guess what.. it is 2012. Lets keep the talk going and soon it will be 2024. A never ending story. In business school people do case studies to learn about the mistakes certain company or governments made with regards to their policy..pretty sure someone is working or should start working on a case titled "Year 2024: Implications of the lack of skilled immigration on economy"

A skilled worker immigration bill must not be passed as a stand-alone bill. Instead, it should be used as a bargaining chip to legalize the 11 million undocumented immigrants who are in limbo.
Piecemeal reform will chip away at getting the required votes to pass other pieces of immigration reform and must be stopped at all costs.

As much as I agree with you...there is a flip-side. Politics is the art of the possible and if we keep holding for the whole enchilada we get no progress for anyone. I think the 11 million have a good leverage chip in the fact that many of their family members and friends are citizens and they will not forget about them when they go to the polls.
