OBAMA IMMIGRATION SPEECH PART 2

Rate this Entry

Deportation policies are source of controversy. They're not doing it haphazardly and are targeting violent criminals (not the whole truth, of course).

Advocates just wish he would bypass Congress. That's not how democracy works.

Must fix the system as a whole. Must put the politics aside.

Washington is behind the rest of the country. Coalitions around the country are coming together. Mentioning Bloomberg, Mel Martinez, small business owners, Fortune 500 CEOs, etc. Now he's quoting Rupert Murdoch.

Outlining reform.

1. Enforcement.

2. Businesses have to be held accountable if they exploit undocumented workers.

3. Those here illegally must pay taxes, pay a fine, learn English, etc.

4. Must provide a legal way for employers to hire needed workers.

5. Laws should reunite families more quickly. The system shouldn't punish people who follow the rules. Example - spouses can't visit the US while waiting on their green cards to come up in the queue.

6. Don't punish young people for the actions of their parents. Pass the DREAM Act. Now he's trashing Republicans for voting against DREAM.

The public must join him in pushing Congress to pass legislation. And now here comes the patriotic music.

"Following the speech, Obama was to travel to Austin for a pair of fundraisers for his 2012 reelection campaign." clearly shows his real intentions. this situation is really sad for the legals as well as illegals, but funny to the point that this issue is slowly becoming a joke!

Answer to the so called dream act. Illegals have already gotten a dream of 12 years of education on the American system. Not all illegals pay enough taxes to cover educating one child yet while I lived in Santa Ana, California I watched the Mexican families in my neighborhood have as many as 11 kids in the local hospital and get welfare or medicare pay the bills for them all. The wives had so many more kids than they could support most were getting every bit of aid they could con out of the state. They could not work because of the overload of kids they had to care for. Some of the families claimed single parent and the live in or daddy showed up everyday around dinner.

So the kids wine about how hard they worked for there grades. How hard do you think I worked to pay the taxes to allow them to be supported. I have a dream I want my work hours and money back. I certainly do not want to subsidize there higher education. I do not want to compete with them for jobs either. Take the 12 years and go home and go to college in Mexico, they can pay for it.....

Every legal immigrant is paying taxes as well with zero benefits. Wait in line for 20 years is the message. if congress is doing piecemeal, then fix the legal FIRST. I don't care if it thru executive authority. How hard is it to give the legals waiting in line an EAD card with I-140 approval instead of waiting for 20 years for the priority dates to become current; and we hear the President talk about illegal's pathway to citizenship. Most of the legals don't even care about citizenship; just give the damn EAD/GC which they rightfully deserve.

Hmm? You get to drive the roads your taxes are paying for, your kids go to school your taxes are paying for... You get to use the judicial system and police the taxes are paying for, and the last but not the least, after 10 years of paying to SS you will be eligible for SS retirement benefits even if you never become a PR.

That's probably the clearest message you can give Americans about why NOT give you any benefits. It shows entitlement (you deserve? really? not based on the current laws) and not caring about the future of the country. Americans really don't like when people want to peruse the country for a while, but don't want to become Americans.
