NATION'S INTERNATIONAL EDUCATORS PUSH FOR DREAM ACT

Rate this Entry

I was pleased to learn that NAFSA - the Association of International Educators - has added a section to its web site promoting passage of the DREAM Act. Heather Stewart, NAFSA's counsel and director of immigration policy has a great blog post as well explaining why this issue is so important. Thanks NAFSA for making this issue a priority.

"...they were brought to the United States illegally by their parents as children. Their lack of options is not only unfair to them, but also to the United States."

Their parents have the option not to be in violation of our immigration law. Something is wrong with the system when they can reside here for decades on end. THAT is what creates their children's limbo. Our current case law provides a public education right for their children regardless of legal status. Some would say that is unfair to the taxpayers of the United States but, for now, we have to work around that incongruity with statutory immigration law.

If we had verification on housing and employment, the number of illegal alien children would be much smaller. That is the solution, not serial amnesties and non-enforcement. I ask those who support the rolling amnesty approach, what measures do you favor which would deter the parents from coming in the first place and staying for decades? Or do you just condone illegal immigration? What do you want to do about the parents of the DREAM Act/deferred action beneficiaries? Just let them stay too? Create a formal or de facto right to stay because their child was a "DREAMer"? If so, DREAM Act advocacy is really just a Trojan horse for non-enforcement/amnesty in general. Non-enforcement and amnesty just beget more illegal immigration and thus should not be sold as a solution.

He will be one of the first ones begging for government action on immigration as soon as the economy collapses (coming sooner than anybody expects)...Jack must stop paying attention to mainstream media and educate himself about this unavoidable event (although for a Vulgar Many like him will be almost impossible to swallow such realities).

Let's see if Jack's intellect is capable of grasping the message of the following three and a half hours documentary titled "The Money Masters: How International Bankers Gained Control of America"

DUE TO NATIONAL SECURITY CONCERNS, THE ONGOING ECONOMIC UPHEAVAL AND CONGRESS' INABILITY TO PASS AN IMMIGRATION REFORM, President Obama will issue pretty soon an Executive Order granting some sort of legal protection to millions of undocumented immigrants living in the United States based on certain prerequisites and requirements: most likely a renewable work permit while mandating these individuals to register in DHS database and the Selective Service System as well.

Nothing is free, especially in the US. If the children who were brought here illegally as a child - can and should go back to their home country (their parent's country), and apply for a student visa and come here legally. thousands of more talented students are coming here the same route (read India and China), and are working their a$$ off to pay for the education, and then waiting in line for 10 yrs for their GC, while they are exploited like slaves at work.
    Get in line!!!

It is understandable that this individual tries to ventilate his/her frustrations in this blog; however, it also displays a great degree of ignorance on how the educational system in the US works (his assertion mirrors statements issued by the brute and ignorant masses of this country who love to scapegoat undocumented immigrants for all of the problems occurring in America).

Legal voice should concentrate his intellect on critical issues (mainly the economy) because as soon as the US Dollar loses its world's reverse currency status, this nation is going to experience dramatic changes never seen before. Perhaps he will join Jack begging the US Government for immediate action on immigration reform.
