H-1B HEARING TOMORROW IN THE HOUSE

Rating: 2 votes, 5.00 average.

The House Immigration Subcommittee is holding a hearing on H-1B visas tomorrow. The witness list includes USCIS' Donald Neufeld of Neufeld Memo fame, Bo Cooper, a former USCIS general counsel who now practices immigration law, Ron Hira, a professor and well-known H-1B critic and Bruce Morrison, a former Congressman who chaired the House Immigration Subcommittee and has worked privately on immigration advocacy projects over the years.

Should be interesting and I'll try and listen in.

Senator John McCain will be introducing legislation again to sufficiently secure the border between the United States and Mexico next week ... Administration wants CIR and border security in one bill.

All circus...they will not solve the budget impasse...and they will not address any other issue as long as there is a budget impasse!

I agree they don't want to fix the EB system, find a scapegoat in H1B visa program for the fiscal mess & high unemployment but what have they done to fix the FB category. If family unification is beneficial & if they think would creates more jobs than EB why haven't they done anything to fix to it.

If you cannot get a job because of 65,000 more people competing with you for 2.5 million jobs that will be created this year, you are as incompetent as it comes...and all Ron Hira does is to give a leg-up to this incompetence.

They will fix it if the majority beneficiaries are Irish or even Polish (English people preferred)...they would rather see jobs outsorced over more non-whites migrating to this country. People like Smith and King and definitely Bachmann and Blackburn are scared that this country is becomong majority non-white and liberalizing EB laws mean America will become majority non-white sooner, and even if that sooner means six months less than previously anticipated, it is too revolting for them!

    From AV's link:

"But numerous cases have come to light of American workers who were ousted from jobs and replaced by workers from Indian outsourcing companies, often at lower wages."

To which Alan "Maestro" Greenspan shouts "Bravo!"

As opposed to an open immigration ideologue, e.g., Philippe Legrain, who just shrugs at domestic worker displacement. A true ideologue doesn't even bother rationalizing their stance by American bashing--they simply don't care one way or the other who wins and who loses. There is no loyalty to fellow countrymen--any foreigner is equally entitled to any domestic job and the ideologue is either simply oblivious to what problems open immigration might cause (blinded by his rose colored glasses), or doesn't care (the displaced American is a loser and deserves his fate under Social Darwinism; population is irrelevant; problems are too far away to worry about now/blind faith technology will solve them anyway).

As opposed to those who are biased for those not born in the U.S. and/or against those born in the U.S. for no particular reason. They just like/dislike someone less or more by virtue of where they were born and tend to attribute magical qualities to people not born in the U.S. (or their home country) and/or criticize Americans (or their countrymen) as being inherently inferior.

All drivel is no evidence. Prove that a less qualified low performer with low GPA and SAT foreigner is hired over a better qualified and high performing US citizen with high GPA, and I will support your cause...Evidence please?

There are many Americans who just like/dislike other Americans born in this country less or more by virtue of their skin color and tend to attribute magical qualities to white people born in the U.S. or elsewhere, (Hollywood and folks on the blog attached below) and/or criticize their fellow countrymen as being inherently inferior because of the color of their skin...here is the evidence...so why blame foreigners for hating Americans while Americans hate other Americans anyway....

    Beyond the Border:
A Shared Vision for Perimeter Security and Economic Competitiveness

The United States and Canada are staunch allies, vital economic partners, and steadfast friends. We share common values, deep links among our citizens, and deeply rooted ties. The extensive mobility of people, goods, capital, and information between our two countries has helped ensure that our societies remain open, democratic, and prosperous.

To preserve and extend the benefits our close relationship has helped bring to Americans and Canadians alike, we intend to pursue a perimeter approach to security, working together within, at, and away from the borders of our two countries to enhance our security and accelerate the legitimate flow of people, goods, and services between our two countries. We intend to do so in partnership, and in ways that support economic competitiveness, job creation, and prosperity.

As stated many times in the past, President Obama will issue an Executive Order that grants some sort of legal protection to millions of undocumented aliens living in the United States based on certain prerequisites or requirements.

Before the complete integration of Canada, United States and Mexico, this step will be taken in order to harmonize currencies, laws and security policies -and will happen pretty soon.
