OKLAHOMA SEEKING TO COPY ARIZONA BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP MEASURE

Rate this Entry

Oh Oklahoma, you can't be the cool kid when your lack of originality is so transparent. Arizona may be crazy, but no one disputes that it's the true trendsetter amongst whacko legislatures. But your legislature's  just copying Arizona bills verbatim only makes you look lame.

Now McCain says he wants to develop a mutually-agreeable set of benchmarks with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano for what level of security is sufficient and how to determine when that goal has been met.

I wonder why Greg isn't calling out Utah as "whacko"? Arizona intentionally tries to push the constitutional envelope but at least they have arguable legal theories (or a political strategy to get an issue heard in court). By contrast, there's no discernible legal theory to support the Utah bills--they cluelessly seem to think they can really do what they propose. Arizona/Oklahoma type laws have been upheld. It's inconceivable Utah's would be.

Jack - These proposals are all unconstitutional. I posted more because I'm amused than anything else.
