Greg Siskind on Immigration Law and Policy

TEA PARTY SENATORS INTRODUCE BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP BILL

Rating: 4 votes, 5.00 average.

Rand Paul (R-KY) and David Vitter (R-LA) have introduced a bill to amend the US Constitution to restrict citizenship to those born to US citizens or permanent residents. If you claim bigotry, you'll be shouted down as hysterical, but why do the most virulent anti-immigration moves in Congress tend to come from white Southerners? Have immigrants raplaced blacks as the targets because blatant racism is so politically incorrect today while immigrant bashing is still okay? For those who think I'm imagining things, look at the votes on the recent comprehensive immigration reform measures and you'll see that the anti-immigrant votes come overwhelmingly from southerners. Sure there are antis outside the South. But when you get down to counting votes, there is no part of the country that is so overwhelmingly anti-immigrant (at least when it comes to white members of Congress).

You can take a white southerner out of the racist south, but you cannot take racism out of white southerners..and Rand Paul and David Vitter are examples of your neighborhood white southern racists...and that is why I am celebrating the defeat of attempts to roll back the filibuster....

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0111/48325.html

Nothing new there however...Brian Bilbray is from California, Tom Tancredo is from Colorado and Bob Stump is from Arizona...all have introduced similar legislation to end birthright citizenship in the past. It is the last stand of the racist whites whether from the south or from outside the south!

It's no longer about immigration status - they want to strip first generation of immigrants of US citizenship.

I agree with you Greg, what a bunch of losers!

on another note, what do you think will come off the Issa green card to STEM US students bill? its introduced by a Rep in the house, no new numbers being put in it, and Obama kind of talked about keeping back US educated STEM students.

What could be the roadblock for something like this that seems pretty Bipartisan?

Hi TG - I don't really have any new information on the Issa bill, but will be watching it closely and blogging when there is news.

"What could be the roadblock for something like this that seems pretty Bipartisan?"

Allow me to answer this. People like David "the diaperhead" Vitter, Jeff "the Bigot" Sessions, Jim "the Demented" DeMint and of course Rand "the Racist" Paul...in the House we have Michelle "the bigot" Bachmann, Rene "the white skin worshipping" Elmers and Marsha "Bigot" Blackburn. And of course on the other side we have Charles "the ***" Grassley, Dick "the dumb" Durbin and finally Bernie "the Braindead" Sanders!

From the point of view of the former and the ladies (if you can call them that!) it is the fact that the most are Asians and Asians are not white..and they are trying to desparately save majority white America and hence any non-white immigration skilled or otherwise is a no-no!

From the other side, they are all misguided. They seriously think that if we keep one foreigner out, job goes to an American. It does not..Bank of America and Citibank have not hired Americans since 2009 when TARP forced them to hire Americans. They are hiring abroad and even transferring people abroad. An entire unit in which my friend's neice works in Chicago..all the MBA were sent to China...his neiece was told she either moves to Shanghai or she is out of work..but her staff assistant and others with little or no college education are being laid off! So we have ignoramouses in congress.

These are the roadblocks..and serious ones!

Apparently, the tabaggers think the US needs MORE illegal immigrants, not less. The best ones will be born in this country, so their overlords don't have to learn Spanish.

There are only two consistent ways of fixing the "citizenship by birth" issue - either grant some form of legal status to the parents of a US citizen or let the child inherit the citizenship and immigration status of the parents. I do not have a strong preference for either solution but I think Rand Paul's proposal is at least consistent, even if it doesn't match your ideology. It's a different matter that this bill (or any bill on legalization) will not go anywhere for the next 2-4 years.

Of course they do. Where do you think most illegal immigrants reside? In GOP states with CA being the only exception. Without illegals George Bush would have lost the Presidency in 2000..NY would have had two more electoral votes, PA two more, IL one more, NJ one more and FL two less and TX three less. Al Gore would have been elected President. The best way to maintain this advantage would be to have illegals residing in your state without right to legal residency or citizenship!

Reid's office notes that he's apologized:

April 2006: Reid Described "The Biggest Mistake I Ever Made" In Introducing Anti-Immigrant Legislation. In April 2006, Senator Reid went to the floor to respond to criticism of his immigration stance. He said, "I don't want this to be true confessions, but I want to relate to the Senate that the biggest mistake I ever made, the largest error I ever made was 15 or 18 years ago, as a Member of the U.S. Congress, when, with my chief of staff, my dear friend Reynaldo Martinez. ... A group of people came and talked to us and convinced us that the thing to do would be to close the borders between Mexico and the United States; in effect, stop people from coming across our borders to the United States. ... I introduced legislation. My little wife is 5 feet tall. We have been together for soon to be 50 years. As I said here on the floor a few days ago, her father was born in Russia. He was run out of Russia. His name was Goldfarb, his family. They were Jewish. My wife heard that I had done this. She does not interfere with my legislation. Only when I ask her does she get involved in what I am doing. I didn't ask her about this. She, in effect, said: I can't believe that you have done it. But I had done it." [Reid Floor Speech, 4/5/06]

Reid Described Backlash From Friends And Constituents In Nevada's Hispanic Community: "To compound this, I held a meeting a day or two after being confronted by my wife, a meeting in Las Vegas. It was a townhall meeting to explain this travesty that I called legislation. My friend, Judge John Mendoza, was there, somebody who, when I lost my Senate race in 1974 by 524 votes, spent all night with me consoling me, but he was in that audience. Larry Luna, Larry Mason, Isabelle Pfeiffer, people I had not talked to about this, in addition to my wife, pointed out the errors of my way. I have done everything since that meeting in Las Vegas, in conversation with my wife, to undo my embarrassment." [Reid Floor Speech, 4/5/06]

Reid Called His Past Immigration Stance "The Low Point Of My Governmental Career," Explained His Belief In The Need For Comprehensive Reform: "I have nothing against my friend, the junior Senator from Alabama, for bringing up what I had said those many years ago today on the Senate floor. I have no problem with that at all. But I do want to tell him and the rest of my friends in the Senate, that is a low point of my legislative career, the low point of my governmental career. That is why I believe we need comprehensive immigration reform today. People in America are counting on us to move forward with comprehensive immigration reform. They recognize that this country's national security depends on securing our borders and fixing our immigration system. They all want us to do this, Democrats and Republicans, to come together and do this." [Reid Floor Speech, 4/5/06

    What's all the uproar?

In times of crisis there will always be a scapegoat for all the problems of this nation (in this case undocumented immigrants). Besides that, the American populace is so ignorant, easy to manipulate and subdue by members of Congress while dealing with the immigration dilemma: a clever way to keep ordinary Americans distracted from issues that really matter (i.e. the impending collapse of the American economy).

Remember that congressmen only represent the interests of the people who financed their campaigns, more specifically banks.

THE COLLAPSE OF THE US DOLLAR
Illegal immigration as a "controversial" issue will disappear as soon as the national economy collapses, essentially the demise of the US Dollar as the world's reserve currency and the emergence of a new monetary system - JUST AROUND THE CORNER.

This scenario will facilitate the socio-judicial-economic integration of the North American states (Canada, US and Mexico); therefore, undocumented Mexicans and/or Canadians living in the United States -approximately 25 million individuals- won't have the necessity of adjusting their legal status since they will be able to work in the US with their current national documents.

Consequently, the remaining undocumented aliens from countries outside this de facto union (about 5 million) will become the target of any sort of legislation dealing with immigration reform (easy to pass without too much drama).

Moreover, due to National Security concerns, President Obama will simply issue an executive order giving some sort of legal status and/or protection to millions of undocumented immigrants based on certain requirements and/or prerequisites (most likely a work permit that can be renewed indefinitely possibly including a mandatory service in the Armed Forces).

This event will take place PRETTY SOON since Barack Obama can now assert that US Congress is incapable of passing some sort of legislation dealing with a comprehensive immigration reform and NATIONAL SECURITY demands concrete results.

For those who believe this scenario is unlikely to occur, educate yourselves about Title 50 of the United States Code (War and National Defense).

Almost every country indulges in human right violations in one form or other. But most of them don't lecture others about human rights. Countries which do lecture would be right to do so if they lead by example.

    http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/7385459.cms?prtpage=1

Clearly this incident has poured cold water on Tom Friedman's dream of stapling green cards to the degree of every student that joins any US university.

The most likely outcome - plan to staple green cards is now off the table. Clearly this incident will attract more scrutiny and planners will have to come with a better idea to allow US students to pursue their dreams in the US.

As I indicated in one of my blog postings many months ago, scams such as this were most likely to happen with the possibility of getting green cards through university admissions.

Exactly is the new way of politically correct slavery, you have no rights, your kids have no rights and you have to live in fear even from your neighbors, friends, police, government and everyone based on your natural origin. Your are just lucky to be able to do our crappy jobs we are allowed to exploit you until we decide that your presence is bothering us and you are lucky to get a few bucks from us.
