I think Obama's lack of experience to strategize and prioritize issues coupled with some poor advise is the main reason for no movement on CIR.

This is what Hillary said during 2008 campaign

Also ghost of Rahm Immanuel still haunts the White House! Lucky for Obama, GOP controls the House..they will try to play with the 14th amendment..Senate wont touch it..and Dream fiasco will be forgotten!

Or maybe this IS his strategy and priority, always has been, and from his political perspective he's threaded the needle perfectly--no risk of another losing CIR bill, no risk of alienating non-open border unions, and no calling of his bluff on inaction (unless you count Luis Gutierrez).

Remember, while Obama paid lip service to CIR and made his first year promise, Rahm Emanuel never denied the second term plan. For all we know, despite his public words of disappointment, Obama is secretly bragging on his political brilliance for playing the ethnic special interests over and over as well as Ronald Reagan (who Obama admires politically) played the Christian Right.

"3. How many speeches did President Obama give endorsing the DREAM Act? None as near as I can find."

He gave one today. Sorry, couldn't resist.

It is time to close the book on the Obama Presidency. As an organization in 2012 AILA must back a moderate Republican who embraces humane immigration reform policies, because the Democrats have proven utterly useless.

Democrats have not always been supportive of CIR. S1639 in 2007 failed partly because many currently serving senators voted against it, not to mention Obama himself tried to kill the bill with a poison pill amendment .. ( apparently he received a dressing down by the lion of the senate late Ted Kennedy after he tried to kill the bill )

Taking into consideration the house didn't touch the immigration bill while passing lesser important ones only enforces the belief of the second term plan. But this plan could back fire big time.

As of today it does not look like one even exist and if so he/she will get killed in the primary process. The dems can rest easy on this one....

Let's stop DREAMing! Can we just have Section 245(i) back, please? Let's be more realistic, there are many more eligible but unadjustable people stuck in the U.S. without 245(i).
