Awaiting official roll call. A damn shame.

Kudos to Republicans Richard Lugar, Robert Bennett and Lisa Murkowski. And to Democrats Kay Hagan, Max Baucus, John Tester, David Pryor and Ben Nelson, thanks for the courage - not! Claire McCaskill - thank you!

Remember, this bill failed by two votes since 40 votes were needed to end debate, not five.

Kennedy hanging on instead of quitting in 2008 when he was diagnosed with cancer and giving a Dem a chance to win during the Obama blowout is coming back to haunt the Dems and Dreamers alike. Selifsh Ruth Bader Ginsburg is following Kennedy's example. She will resign or be disabled when the GOP takes over allowing the cementing of the court's conservative tilt. I respect Kennedy for what he did, but his trying to hang on gave us Scott Brown and by the time he is defeated in 2012, the GOP would have taken the senate or be very close to taking the senate with Jeff Sessions heading the Judiciary Committee. These two are more candidates for profiles in selfishness rather than profiles in courage!

A reminder to the antis who post here -

I demand civility in the discussions here. I will tolerate stupidity and welcome contrary views. But if your post has one of the following three things, it will be deleted -

    1. Profanity
    2. Hate speech
    3. Personal attacks

If you can't make your point without violating one of these three rules, you'll have to find another site to pollute.

This is not Justice, its your selfishness. You want it to be right for you first and then you dont care about immigration at all. You for now is not talking about "Truth, honesty and justice", rather playing with future of innocent immigrants.

Good bye Dreamact, legal(EB & FB) or CIR for atleast 2 years and if democrats dont get their act together(or change the way they behave) this may be put off for decades.

I am already seeing very interesting 2012 election, tea party and primary challengers for most of the dem sens specially who voted against dreamact.

    Finally, whats your solution?

Too bad for DREAM. DADT passed the test vote and looks like it will pass. At least there's some good news.

If something like the DREAM ACT couldn't pass the Senate, forget ANY OTHER IMMIGRATION BILL, Legal or otherwise

This country just got pushed back by a hundred years.

    What's all the uproar?

Due to National Security concerns, President Obama will simply issue an executive order giving some sort of legal status and/or protection to millions of undocumented immigrants based on certain requirements and/or prerequisites (most likely a work permit that can be renewed indefinitely including a mandatory service in the Armed Forces).

This event will take place PRETTY SOON since Barack Obama can now assert that Congress is incapable of passing some sort of legislation dealing with a comprehensive immigration reform and NATIONAL SECURITY demands concrete results.

For those who believe this scenario is unlikely to occur, educate yourselves about Title 50 of the United States Code (War and National Defense).

Had conservatives joined with the family values Hispanics in pushing for the DREAM ACT, instead of worshipping the white skin, perhaps they would have stopped the DADT....

Classic example of white skin worshipping pagans that the GOP panders to...complaining that their white God's role in the movie has to been given to a black...

Now do you believe me that many folks opposed to amnesty and immigration in general are white skin worshipping is a clear cut evidence!

"Schumer to introduce new CIR BILL in next Congress ..."

He was supposed to get a CIR by Labor Day 2009, where did that go? The Dems are going to get beat in 2012 would lose the Senate & the Presidency too if the Cans can get a decent candidate. In that scenario immigration is out for legals as well as the illegals. For all the immigrants the wait continues.........

  14. My 2 cents's Avatar
They should have attached the DREAM Act to the tax cut bill. It would have been fun to see the Cans kill their own bill.

"There was simply no reason not to pass this important legislation."

Wow. Even accounting for how politicians pander, what an unbelievable statement. Wanting our immigration law to be taken seriously, not granting legalizations without something to prevent future illegal immigration, the lack of a single thing to prevent the DREAM Act situation from happening in the first place, etc. By his statement, these are things he apparently doesn't think are valid concerns. Come to think of it, maybe it's not surprising when you consider who he meets with and listens to when it comes to immigration policy. People who take immigration enforcement seriously don't get an invitation.

The time has come to for the Administration to start seriously thinking about granting deferred action status to kids who would have benefited from Dream.

Hope Dems have had enough with Dream , time for them to fix broken legal immigration system.
