PELOSI WILL PUSH FOR DREAM ACT VOTE IN LAME DUCK

Rate this Entry

From Politico:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to push for a vote during the lame-duck session on a bill that would legalize young, undocumented immigrants if they attend college or serve in the military, according to Democratic sources familiar with a leadership conference call Wednesday.

A vote on the bill, known as the DREAM Act, could come as early as next week, the sources said. Pelosi asked Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.) and Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) to assess the mood of the caucus, according to one source.

The vote on DREAM is probably easier in the Lame Duck House given the need for only 50% and the Democrats substantial majority. But this is still important news since it was not clear that Pelosi would prioritize getting a DREAM Act vote.

At least there is something to look forward to for the DREAM Act. I think it will probably pass.

Hope there are prospects for other piece-meal legislations as well.

They'd better start moving forward quickly. Obama said budget/tax cut and immigration were priorities for the lame duck session.

I don't think it will pass, the Dems who lost the mid-terms could still vote against it. None of the the Repubs will support it. I would like it to get passed so the legals can for once can get a fair chance in the unfair balance of immigration.

That's the only smart thing to do. Hope it's not just the DREAM Act.
