WILL LATINOS MAKE A DIFFERENCE NEXT TUESDAY?

Rate this Entry

Depends who you ask. Politico reports on new polling data showing Hispanic "enthusiasm" growing considerably in the last few weeks, something sure to bring a smile to the faces of Democrats. On the other hand, the restrictionist Center for Immigration Studies is predicting Latinos will not have an appreciable effect on races this year.

What do you think?

The other one is obviously just spinning. They are really hoping Latinos/Hispanics don't get out and vote.

There are even ads I believe being played in NV telling Latinos "Don't Vote".

The Dems should concentrate on general get out and vote campaign and specifically targeting Latinos/Hispanics and Independents. I think the far right and the left has made up their minds already and some even already did early voting. BTW, the Dems are ahead on early voting as well.

Latinos will have enough of a turnout to keep the Senate under the control of the Dems...particularly the CA Senate race. Their turnout will determine the NV Senate race as well. However, it may not matter in the House of Reps. A loss in the House of Reps and unsavory characters such as Lamar Smith and Steve King having power will work wonders for Dems come 2012.

With just 1 week to go I think the Dems are exactly doing what they should:

I also agree that those ads in NV & elsewhere telling Latinos not to vote are backfiring.

Question is, is it too late? Hope it's not as I know from past election cycles that the last 1-2 weeks before election day are the most impt. period to get undecideds and independents.

I think it is pretty much set. 80% chance of GOP taking the House and 10% chance of GOP taking the Senate. More gridlock and no action for the forseeable future. By forseeable future I mean at leat till 2013, perhaps not for a very long time.

The more I think the lameduck session is going to be important for both parties to get anything in.

I think in CA, FL, NV and NY they may bring it.... TX and the other states who knows!!!

Dem landslide in CA and NY. NV probably down to the wire. FL other than governor literally gone. TX and AZ are history...no effect whatsoever. More concerned about CO governor and Senate. The Senate race could well determine whether Dems go 50 plus one or two. The Governor's race...we could end up having the worst racist for governor since George Wallace although Jan Brewer comes very close.

Among the industrialized countries US is among the most corrupt! Corrupt judges, corrupt prosecutors and corrupt business practices.

"...those who are politicizing the issue, who are supportive of the Arizona law, who talk only about border security but aren't willing to talk about the other aspects of this, who don't support the Dream Act, who are out there engaging in rhetoric that is divisive and damaging that -- those aren't the kinds of folks who represent our core American values."

So supporting rule of law is against American values--nullification of law (amnesty) is our core value. That's a stunning statement from the chief enforcer of our laws.

"So supporting rule of law is against American values" - you mean the rule of stupidest law in the nation? I don't know... maybe you should ask Rosa Parks (or yeah, she was convicted for standing up against the law).

Yes, if Americans support the rule of law, they will obey the simplest law first...traffic law, stop for pedastrians, yield when it says yield, etc. We cannot pick and choose what law to enforce.
