JUDGE CONSIDERING PARTIAL INJUNCTION IN ARIZONA CASE

Rate this Entry
Judge Susan Bolton, who heard arguments this week on the first of the Arizona lawsuits, has narrowed the issues she is considering blocking before the law takes effect next week. Some sections that are not in dispute, such as the provisions on day laborers, will take effect on the scheduled date. More controversial provisions, such as those allowing police to enforce immigration laws and the criminalization of illegal immigration status under Arizona law.

"The hearings brought out high-profile politicians, media from across the country, high-powered attorneys and hundreds of the law's supporters and opponents."

And the kooks, the media hounds and the deranged (actually, only Sen. Russell Pearce, whose attempt to become an Intervenor is being opposed by the USA, occupies the last category). I had a look at the docket and it is completely out of control. It seems that everyone, from the semi-illiterate to their dog is seeking permission to file as amici.

In any event, initially per the briefing schedule proposed by the USA they were to file their response to Arizona's reply by 7/27, however, they waived their right to file a response and get the last word on their motion. Thus it appear that a ruling could come sometime next week.

As the report takes it could take years to resolve this issue.

As I have said over and over again...antis have one primary goal...to end all immigration. If they have no illegal problem they will go after legals...as is evident from the racists in this Australian campaign, a country where economic problems are not an issue....they will hid behind population as Jack and Britannicus frequently do...
