RUPERT MURDOCH TAKES PRO-IMMIGRATION CASE TO HIS OWN FOX NEWS

Rating: 6 votes, 4.33 average.

I'm actually writing this blog post on an airplane with Internet access. That's a first for me and those of you who know how much I love technology can probably envision the smile on my face.

Back to the post, however. This is really remarkable. Fox News has championed the most hostile antis out there. So when New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Fox owner Rupert Murdoch showed up on the popular Fox and Friends yesterday to explain why we need comprehensive immigration reform, that had to make major waves at the network.

The appearance was noted in a major segment on Fox competitor MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann who had a lot of fun with the turn of events. I'm not holding my breath that the network coverage will change much, but I also didn't think we would have gotten rid of Lou Dobbs as fast as we did either.

Farming community challenging unemployed workers to come and take up jobs. Lets see how many Americans who oppose immigration in name of high unemployment, will take these jobs.

To keep food prices affordable, farm wages will be low and no Americans want to work there. Pass CIR and solve some genuine problems that people are facing today. This reform can solve lot of problems for millions of people. It can also bring down criminals and giving bad name to hard working undocumented workers.

The way to solve the farm problem is remove agricultural subsidies and import cheaper food from neighboring countries. Ag subsidies have priced Mexican and Central American farmers out of the global market, forcing them to abandon farms and move illegally to the US. Let us remove ag subsidies first and see how many illegals go back home. I am sure it would not be everyone..but it will be at least 20% fo the illegals in this country. GOP has been behind ag subsidies despite the free market rhetoric. Anything that helps white farmers is a necessity..but welfare is a waste of money. Ag subsidy is a form of welfare.

This may help those who do not understand the meaning and benefits of the word "Comprehensive", and fill up blogs by saying that mass deport 11 million people. I believe they may be high-school dropouts with such a thought process.

That would require that at least 20% of illegal aliens work in agriculture but according to Pew Hispanic Research only 3% (of those working) work in agriculture. If Pew's number is remotely close to correct, even if every illegal alien farm worker went home it wouldn't put much of a dent in the illegal population. While illegal aliens are heavily present in agriculture, in today's economy there just aren't very many agriculture workers as a percentage of the workforce. That reality isn't in the interest of those who want to create the perception that a large percentage of illegal aliens work on farms. They obviously don't want to focus on the reality that several times more work in industries that lots of urban and suburban natives work in, e.g., construction or some other industry in which the downward wage correlates with an increase in illegal worker presence. Open border ideologues like Mayor Bloomberg simply deny that illegal aliens hold jobs that Americans also hold. Such a fantasy is so easily disproven by detailed studies that it's a pathetic commentary on the media that mass immmigration preachers like Bloomberg get away with their whoppers. I suppose it would be asking a lot of some Fox Friend to question his coroporate boss on national television.

Only problem with your dumb argument is prices will increase and at the time of financial crisis it will create more hardship for working Amrericans. The problem is people like you and most Americans in general, love all the goodies nut we wont pay for it. Second issue, is jobs will move abroad, creating more deficits and debt as tax revenues decrease.
