Maybe he needs to focus on his own country and create better opportunities. Mexican economy is in top 15 in the world and have population one third of US and among the lowest densities in the world. Their per capita income is around $12k and their people are struggling in US at $6/hr with no status? Something does not add up. He should work on corruption in his own government and increase trade, rather than worrying about immigration policies of other countries.

Fox news is reporting that Miss Oklahoma may have lost the Miss USA crown for her answer on the Arizona law:

So, looks like Greg was right and forum Jack was wrong. I might add that her answer is simply unacceptable for someone who wants to represent the ENTIRE USA and not just the "real America (sic)". The Arizona law will lead to racial profiling, so you can't be against racial profiling but support the Arizona law under the pretext of States' rights. This was the same kind of despicable talk used to justify the treatment of Black Americans in places like Oklahoma back in the early 60s.

The Mexican economy and the US economy depend too much on each other Mexico is the third trade partner of the US. Their economy took a huge hit with the financial meltdown, their 3 large contributors to economic growth: Oil, Tourism and the money sent to Mexico by immigrants are all way down. Oil prices are down, tourism has suffered due to the war on drugs and economic crisis and the money sent from migrants took a huge hit as the financial crisis and un-employment increased in the US. Immigration and the war on drugs are too linked to each other to ignore by both presidents but in the end it will only amount to lip service, he is powerless to influence the immigration debate.

President Obama said today that he has directed the Department of Justice to take a "very close look" at Arizona's controversial immigration law and that he expects a report back "soon," after which the government will make a determination whether to legally challenge the law.

Yeah, right. He & Holder haven't even read the 17 pages of AZ law. But that hasn't stopped them from spouting ignorant, bigoted opinions about it. Hey Obie, while you're at it why don't you & Holder put your Calderon love fest on hold and look up Mexico's immigration policy? Quote theirs and then quote the new AZ law. Go ahead, pinheads, I dare you.

    "look up Mexico's immigration policy?"

So now US is being governed by Mexican values rather than values of its own? Good going America.

"The judgments that are going to be made in applying this law are troublesome."

Since federal law enforcement agents make the same judgments, that must also trouble him. So is he going to have Justice work "day and night" on how to enjoin federal immigration law? Except for the Supremacy Clause argument, attacks made on the Arizona law are also applicable to federal immigration law and its enforcement. More, considering that the state law excludes race as a factor.
