WEIGHING IN ON ARIZONA OVERREACH

Ed Schultz thinks the Arizona bill has forced the White House to deal with immigration reform sooner than they otherwise might have.

The Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police issue a statement opposing the bill (somehow I doubt Sheriff Joe approved).

America's Voice delivers a petition with 50,000 signatures urging Governor Brewer to veto the bill.

NAFSA: The Association for International Education is concerned about the impact the bill will have on our ability to attract the best foreign students.

The American Immigration Council warns Governor Brewer that the new bill could cost the state a massive amount of money.

I was about to make a post about this as well. I really think the expected passage of the AZ bill when the Governor signs it within this week will force the hands of the WH to deal w/ CIR ASAP.

Besides from the obvious political reasons, the WH need to do CIR ASAP to stop a similar idea spreading to other States.

They wont be able to stop the AZ bill but at least stop or minimize a similar idea spreading to other States.

This may sound crazy to some but if this spreads I think there is good chance of civil war down the road or at least a divided America (no, not United States of America anymore).

If the courts block it, as is likely, the momentum towards CIR will die out!

Franklin Graham is a son of evangelist Billy Graham who is considered an anti-Islamic zealot with his fiery speeches to unite Christians around the world...may be Arizona could be salvaged if Graham could evangelize the white skin worshipping pagans led by the high priest Russell Pearce and convert them to his vision of Christianity, before he goes abroad preaching in "pagan" (this is how some evangelicans describe Hindoos and their caste system..and that is not my word) countries such as India or even before preaching to the US armed forces....

If they knew that court will block it, then why did they pass it in first place? To pander to their racist tea partiers?

Last night on AC360, Anderson really grilled Arizona representative over birther bill. Obviously no strong argument over such idiotic legislation except pandering to racist community.

Why don't they fire such legislators and save some taxpayer money? It seems they have too much time on their hand and not enough issues to work with.

No. Pandering to the white skin worshipping pagans among the tea partiers.

Absolutely right...and they will get even more mad if Obama is re-elected...will happen if the GOP takes the House this year.

As I have always said, when it comes to law vs economy to hell with the law. For other people when it comes to worshipping their white skin and worshipping the color of money, they worship white skin even if they have to live in caves and hunt for a living...that may be the whole idea of second amendment..ruin the economy enough so that they can hunt for a living...white South Africans do it..why not white Arizonans!

I think that's where more problems will arise. Maybe even a crisis. They won't take it likely specially if 70% of Arizonians (accdg. to Rasmussen) approves of the bill and with Palin and McCain on their back.

Other Republicans will chime in as well and even do copy-cat bills of their own on their respective States.

While there is a fight on the constitutionality of these bills they can deport as much as they can until something has resolved. And I bet you they will find a way to drag the whole thing for enough time for them to do an all-out mass deportation. Once people are deported, there is no going back even if the crisis has been resolved. By that time, fences would have been erected as well.

Then the more CIR (w/ amnesty) is needed before anything of these happens. Once they get amnesty, then any bills similar to the AZ bill will be rendered moot and academic.

    Just my opinion.

Or if Arizona is brought to its knees...

Some redneck states will try it but I dont believe all states as some people seem to claim!

Because you must understand that all politics are local, meaning you must understand to whom these AZ politicians are speaking too, who is their audience, Arizonans. Think about it its a state that has been hard hit by the housing crash, the economy is as bad as anywhere else or worst... Therefore what else are these politicians going to say re-elect me because I am doing a good job look at your situation!! No they have to find some scape goat to beat up on, who is an easier target than undocumented workers, who ever speaks for them or defends them... then these people can say elect me because I can end Illegal immigration and I am tough!!! Add to that a few crazies and the birthers and tea party people and you have a Party Arizona style!!!! Their isea of turning AZ into a police state appeals to them because at least they are getting rid of somebody, they could not defeat Obama, Healthcare what else do they have???

I disagree. As a leader it is your imperative that you inform your population with right information. If your constituents ask about Obama's citizenship then state the facts that he is US citizen and end the story. But I do get your point. It is us people who want cable news to be E! channel.

Do you think the asked all the other 44 white presidents for their birth certificates??? Obama was a constitutional law professor surely he was aware of the requirements to be the US president.

    Here we go: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/wire/sns-dc-obama-immigration,0,6471381.story

As I have previously posted, CIR is really now needed to get done to stop similar efforts from spreading. If there were no Sarah Palin/Glenn Beck/Rush, the TEA partiers, birthers, Fox News, etc.. then the democrats can afford to dilly-dally but since those mentioned are expected to fan the current situation in AZ even further then there should be urgency to get CIR done and ASAP.

CIR is now very ripe to get tackled. Ironically, I really think that the AZ bill and Fox news (to collectively refer to all I've mentioned) are the ones that really hastened the ripening process and not Gutierrez and the 200,000 people rally.
