THE DEMS DILEMMA: TO BRING OR NOT BRING REPUBLICANS IN TO IMMIGRATION REFORM PROCESS

Rate this Entry
Roll Call has an interesting analysis of this. Some Democrats believe that they have the votes and they can use immigration reform to brand their party as the true home for the country's Hispanic voters only if they leave the GOP out of the process. And most in the GOP will probably be fine with this except the small number that understand just how dangerous it is for the future of the GOP to be branded the anti-immigrant party.

Is this Steve King or Lamar Smith's vision for America....send all illegals home and will they hire Americans and pay them a higher wage or is this going to happen more often than not?

Any bill without guest worker programs will not solve the problem , it just satisfies the labor groups on the left.

Move forward without the GOP demagogues and xenophobes.Democrats valiantly held together for the health care reform which was more complicated and intense. There's no reason why the democrats in congress can't prevail with immigration reform--a topic which has been demagogued to death already--which the opponents have clarion called for the pat years.
