WILSON CLAIMS TO HAVE BEEN AN IMMIGRATION LAWYER IN THE PAST. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rate this Entry
Sorry, that revelation just made my head explode. The "You Lie!" Congressman claims to have been an immigration lawyer before going to Congress. I'm working on whether that is true or has the same truthiness as the illegal aliens in the health care bill  myth.

Does not mention anything here. But, my sources tell me that he was a legal advisor to one of those anti-immigration groups along with Alan Simpson, which one, Numbers USA, FAIR or CIS or one of those racist groups such as CIS is not very clear...but that is the place to check...the legal advisor to one or more of the antis!

"The Republican Party in South Carolina is well steeped in the dark arts of racial politics and I think that Obama's election is particularly galling to some in that party," said Phil Noble, head of the South Carolina New Democrats, an independent reform group. "There are many in that party for whom simply the idea, much less the reality, of a black president is very painful."

Does not highlight the fear of racial and demographic change. They are barking up the wrong tree..the train has left the station and the train is the national debt which South Carolina GOP are equally culpable in creating. If the "colored people" as they call these folks (and I think they include Asians among them), want to destroy this country they can now...China owns a lot of US treasury debt, as does Singapore, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong among others..if they want to force the folks in SC to hunt for a living (and by default the rest of the US) they can do it now! They can bring the country down. A bunch of Hispanics among their midst or even a black President is least of their problems..and thas brings me to the final point of the folks in the diner that the article does not mention..ignorance and perhaps low IQ.

Depends on how you define immigration lawyer. Kris Kobach claimed to be one and he was for the antis..Alan Simpson claimed to be one..and he is for the antis. It is a broad definition. All immigration lawyers are not pro..depends on which side the bread is buttered!

George - I have not seen any indication that Wilson was connected with anti-immigration groups prior to entering Congress in 2001. Also, he was a founding partner in a fairly large firm in Columbia, South Carolina that would definitely be considered an "establishment" outfit. I doubt he would have been too heavily involved with extremist groups. There are only a very small number of lawyers knowledgeable about immigration law who are antis and most of them are pretty well known. So I'm doubtful about your theory. The truth will no doubt emerge.

Grace - Aside from the fact that I heard him say it on television yesterday, it's being widely reported. Here's the NY Times story mentioning it.

    http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/09/10/wilson-calls-his-outburst-spontaneous/?hp

    From the Times:

"I'm for immigration," he said, adding that he had been an immigration lawyer, although he did not specify exactly what he had done. "But people who come toour country and violated our laws, we should not be providing full services."

Thank you for the point to the NYT article mentioning this claim. I haven't been able to bring myself to watch any of his interviews, so I missed seeing him clam this. I imagine we'll get more information on his "immigration attorney" background in the next few days.

If you have politician from SC who has royally screwed up, you just need to let him talk. Oh, the things you will hear when he opens his mouth! Case in point - Mark Sanford.
