REMINDER: WEDNESDAY NATIONAL TELECONFERENCE ON PRIORITY DATES AND THE STATE DEPARTMENT VISA BULLETIN

Rate this Entry

Just a reminder that my colleagues Lynn Susser, Ari Sauer and I will have the next in our regular free teleconferences on immigration topics. This call's theme is "Deciphering the State Department Visa Bulletin" and we'll be explaining how priority dates work, what the various terms mean, and how to interpret movements month to month. Plus, we'll be answering your questions. The calls are geared toward non-lawyers (though everyone is welcome).

The call is scheduled for 4 pm eastern/3 pm central/2 pm mountain/1 pm pacific on Wednesday, August 5th. Go here to register. If you can't make the call, remember that all of our calls are archived for free downloading on our podcast site or at iTunes.

Do you/Ari or any one know how many visas are left over this year? The final bulletin is coming up and DOS still keeps this info locked in a bunker.

Anyone know how to interpret the movements? Is it even possible with the current mess?

Legal-immigrant - You're right that you can't predict movements unless you're a clairvoyant. But the DOS frequently gives advance notice about what is likely to happen a few months ahead. And if you understand how the quotas work, you can make a more realistic forecast of how long you will need to wait.
