    Hi greg
As Healthcare reform bill isn't votted in house/senate yet, what will be the impact for planned CIR during fall. If it is not possible to do CIR in fall, will they take other piece meal bill for voting(waiting for nurses bill to get through congress). What do you see the chances for CIR happening this year.
Please enlighten us with your valueable answer.
    Thanks

My understanding is that Schumer's folks wanted a bill introduced before the end of August, markup in Judiciary in September and debate on the floor of the Senate in October. That was assuming health care would be done by the end of August. Now I understand that Reid wants a health care bill marked up bill done by Labor Day and a vote to come shortly after the recess is over. So I don't think Schumer's plans are necessarily going to be affected all that much. Very hard to say at this point.

The key will be how much political capital is left for the president after the health care bill for a hard issue like Immigration. It could also be an issue that the republicans want to show some bipartisanship and get it behind before the midterm election but I do not see it at this time any cooperation from the republicans on anything!!

I think the "bipartisanship" tag line by the GOP is just lip service. They are just dangling it like a carrot but in reality they really don't have any intentions to cooperate on anything.

If they really have intentions, they should have come out with their own very detailed proposals and not vague few pages proposals.

Their strategy ever since is to delay, delay and delay until the elections comes again. They have been doing that since the Bush years and don't know why the Dems are still falling for it.

They are now the majority in both Houses plus a Democrat President. The GOP are daring them to "own" every bill they propose and they should not be afraid to do so after offering bipartisanship.

If they can't get any bill passed outside the stimulus bill, the people that voted them to power may not give them the majority on both Houses again. What for if they are afraid to 'own' the bills they propose.
