OMBUDSMAN ISSUES ANNUAL REPORT

Rate this Entry

The USCIS Ombudsman's office has released its 2009 report to Congress. It's got a lot of analysis of problems at USCIS, some interesting statistics not previously available and a number of useful recommendations.

    Yeah,USCIS cares a rat's a$$ about OB.

USCIS is so big that its magnanimity is responsible for a lot of mishaps/delays. While I agree that all the 10(what ever the number is) agencies under the DHS should be under one leadership, there should be more autonomy to USCIS and USCIS should be divided into three divsions with their own secretaries, one that deals with all non immigrants visas, one that deals with immigrant visas and the final one that deals with USC. We will have different secretaries and atleast we have a great possibility that it results in significant improvement. Uh! Competition for those folks on Mass ave?? Nah, probably they dont like to hear that word.

The report focuses a lot more on administrative challenges but not on some of the real issues such as 10 year wait for some countries such as India, China, and Mexico. If there is any other branch of the US government that shows such incompetence, mismanagement and negligence they would have been dragged to capitol hill, raked over the coals and get some tangible progress in days rather than the decades it takes USCIS to take baby steps that can be done by anyone with an ounce of common sense
