HOUSE PASSES HR 1127 EXTENDING MD AND RELIGIOUS WORKER VISA PROGRAMS

Both programs are set to expire on March 6th and this bill will allow them to continue until September 30, 2009. The measure passed on a suspension vote. The Senate is expected to take the measure up shortly.

    Again no bill reintroduced for nurses ( how about reintroducing HR5924, or bringing back Schedule A ???). Seems like nobody realizes the nursing shortage...

    They need to get a permanent fix if they are interested in keeping health care costs under control.

    Can someone explain to me what is the national benefit from religious workers?

    I suppose the answer, John, is shaped by whether you are a person of faith or not. And if you are and are a member of an organized religion, than congregations in your faith around the US are probably using the visa. Most people see the value in the visa when they actually are in a congregation or send their children to a religious school that depends on the visa. If you want to get in to a philosophical argument over religion, I'm sure there are 1000s of blogs out there that provide a great forum for that.
