HOUSE PASSES E-VERIFY AND EB-5 PROGRAM EXTENSIONS

Rating: 2 votes, 5.00 average.

They're included on the Fiscal 2009 Omnibus spending bill and will keep those programs going until September 30, 2009. The Conrad 30 and religious worker expirations are still coming next week unless a separate bill is passed or the Senate decides to get them in their version of the Omnibus.

Every State in the Union needs to implement mandatory usage of this...Arizona has and it has made such a difference in communities all around the state. Suddenly the streets are cleaned up of workers standing on the street corners whistling, hooting and running up to your cars looking for work...

It is important also for all those companies receiving bail-out money to verify that they are employing American citizens who need help first!!!

And people have left the state, legals and illegals..and housing prices are plummetting. Arizona is near a depression with the third worst economy in the country and the worst housing crisis. Serves them right!

As I said earlier fixing the Conrad program is vital. Health Economists have been saying that the doctors have to be paid at least close to $750,000 to work in underserved areas and nurses close to $300,000. This was back in the mid 1990s. The demand now is probably a million dollars. Such a high salary will lead to the next financial contagion with hospitals and health facilities going broke, insurance dropping vulnerable victims from coverage and health care expenditures exploding to 30% of GDP. This the FAIR and CIS vision for America when they say that if they pay market wages to American doctors they will go to underserved areas. If this vision were to come to pass in the short run we all will be dead! I mean literally, not in the Keynesian economics sense!

We own a home in Mesa, AZ as well as our main residence in California....so unless you live in AZ I don't think you can appreciate the difference it has made in climate. I am happy with the economy and housing market...yep its low, yep some folks weren't in their right minds when they believed they could buy a $900,000 home on $50,000 a year - but whose fault is that...even my 16 year old could figure out that one!

I LOVE AZ and what they have done with E-verify has only improved it....just ask those who live there...we are a tough people and will TOTALLY survive...and be better for having less illegals in our State!

Good luck recovering with the population of the state expected to go down...

Wait for 2013..the most optimistic scenario.

My family moved to AZ in 1976, and I visit there regularly. I have never seen any groups of people "whistling, hooting and running up to cars looking for work". Yes, I know that there are workers looking for work as day laborers, and yes, they would often congregate at Home Depots and similar locations, but I never saw them act in the way that SCVdeb claims.

E-verify simply gives AZ a way to discriminate against some people on the basis of skin color or ethnicity, but pretend it's immigration enforcement. Enjoy your "clean" streets SCVdeb, but it's just a matter of time before AZ becomes minority majority, and the Latino voters of the state reign in these insane policies.

Actually I think Arizona will become super majority white (80%) as all the non-whites leave the state, resulting in further plunges in housing prices, businesses closing down or moving to other states and the collapse in the economy from which it will take years to recover. And mark my words, they will look for federal handouts like the Prince William County in VA is looking for state handouts after following similar policies. With some luck, Arizona will loose a few electoral votes as well.

I have to agree with George...and I reside in the middle of Prince William County, VA. The bottom of the housing market has fallen out and I know more people (USCs)that are unemployed than are employed. The crime has elevated in level and numbers. The foreclosed homes have become havens for the homeless and the squatters. The neighbors either have to foot the bill to keep the bank-owned homes maintained or have their own property value decrease drastically and attract vagrants. The area is going down...fast. So, AZ, this is what you have to look forward to, get ready.
