IMMIGRATION MEASURES INTRODUCED IN CONGRESS

Rate this Entry

Several immigration-related developments on Capitol Hill today. First, a provision extending E-Verify and the EB-5 regional centers until September was included in the big omnibus spending bill coming tomorrow. Also, Congresswoman Lofgren introduced HR 1127, a separate bill extending the Conrad 30 and religious worker bills past the March deadline until next September as well. Finally, Congressman Stupak (D-MI) introduced HR 1136, a bill that would bring back the H-2B returning worker provision.

It is time they assess the needs of underserved areas such as rural Alaska (places such as Barrow, Nome) and Wise and Scott counties, VA and make this Conrad 30 thing permanent. Let us face it..no American kid would want to work in Wise or Scott counties or Virginia or in Barrow, Alaska! This circus has gone on for a long time already!

Sorry should have said that no American kid who is not paid at least a million will want to work in Barrow Alaska or Wise and Soctt counties, VA and if we start paying all these folks million dollars, we will end up spending nearly 30% of our GDP on health care and the insurance corporations are not going to pay leaving people on the streets!

How about bringing back Schedule A for Nurses? How come nobody wants to reintroduce that measure?

They need to fix this problem. Otherwise FAIR will get its wish of doubling nurse and doctor salaries, but the underserved areas and seniors will pay a heavy price as health expenditures and debt become nearly 50% of GDP. This is indeed Dan Stein and FAIR's vision for America!
