Rate this Entry

Senator Graham has a proven record of being rationale and reasonable in solving the plight of the 12 millions or so illegal immigrants in the country. He epitomizes what George Bush admonished his party to be a walking example of " compassionate conservatism"!

He's one of the very few Senators from the South who battled his own party and took some hits politically. Yet he prevailed in the 2008 elections.

I can't help but speak of dismay and disappointment on the numbers of senators from the south. Start with McConnel and end with Session of Alabama, and throw in between Vitter , Demint, Bunning , et al , and you have an amalgam of southern senators from GOP who remind me of the painful past of this country....Revisit the vestiges of the segregated south and this is a telling sign where these southern politicians are coming from vis a vis CIR .

''From the abundance of the heart. the mouth speaks" says the good old book. One can only remember what happened in 2007 when the above mentioned senators from the south, and more--- listened to the vitriol of Dobbs, Limbaugh and the myriad xenophobes in the hate radio and the GOP. They embraced with gusto the clarion call of never giving the 12 million illegal immigrants a chance of redemption.

What happened to Elizabeth Dole who jumped for joy when she openly spoke her heart against CIR . Remember the summer when she was all over NC pooling the sherrifs to be immigration enforcers?

2008 spoke of the political obituary of the GOP. If they ( the politicians from the south) would not face up to reality and reason, the GOP will only be a party of the south.Sadly , GOP's political obituary will be sealed completely for generations to come!
