IMMIGRANTS OF THE DAY: IMMIGRANT PLAYERS ON THE TAMPA BAY RAYS

Rate this Entry

Lest you think that the World Series is not really a "world"championship, look no further than the rosters of the teams. Just like the Philadelphia Phillies who I wrote about the other day, their World Series opponent, the Tampa Bay Rays, also have a number of immgrant players. They include

Balfour Grant Balfour - Australia - Relief Pitcher

Hernandez Michel Hernandez - Cuba - Catcher

Navarro Dioner Navarro - Venezuela - Catcher

Aybar Willy Aybar - Dominican Republic - Third Base

Iwamura Akinori Iwamura - Japan - Second Base

Pena Carlos Pena - Dominican Republic - First Base

    Question(s)

Assuming these guys in their greencard process..do they have to restart their process
if a third base is found to a better short stop??

Or restart their greencard process if they are traded across the state boundaries or
    get a pay raise?

    Can these guys apply AC21?

Do they have to pass English tests?

Finally does it need to be proven that there is not citizen who can play baseball before they are recruited?

    Thanks!
