Holy smokes! The ICE raid in Mississippi yesterday now counts as the largest work site raid in American history. Unlike Postville, the previous record holder, so far only eight criminal cases are being tracked for criminal prosecution. According to ICE, Howard Industries was searched yesterday for evidence of aggravated identity theft, fraudulent use of Social Security numbers and other crimes. The charges against the eight individuals being prosecuted related to identity theft.

ICE has put the total number of arrested at 595 with 106 released based on humanitarian reasons (though they are still being placed in deportation proceedings). Most of the rest have been transported to Jena, Louisiana.

Here is the press release.

Hi Greg, Please read this urgent EB news..

Jan Pederson just posted this sensational announcement on her website. DOS has not made any such "announcement". Neither have USCIS, or any other reputed lawyers. Is there any way you can help us verify this news?

India and Chinese EB2 Adjustments On Hold at CIS!
    Tuesday, 26 August 2008

The Department of State announced today that no more visa numbers would be made available to grant permanent residence (I-485) in the employment-based second preference immigrant visa category for persons born in India or China until possibly October 1, 2008. The reason is that CIS has used such a large block of the worldwide numbers freed up for EB2 cases for persons born in India and China that there is a danger that persons born in other countries will not have EB2 numbers available to them. This situation may last through the end of this fiscal year on September 30, 2008.

    Further updates will be provided.

Hi EB - I'm not hearing this yet. That's not to say it's not true. In fact, that would be similar to what USCIS attempted last year.

I told you this thing with the huge reallocations to India and China was going to backfire.
