I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS WASN'T A HIT

The self-deportation program goes bye-bye. I heard the same people who brought you that program also brought you this one.

    LOL.
But I think you are unfair to Eddie Murphy. Even his worst film is better than what ICE came up with. They are obviously in a completely different universe if they thought their self-deportation stuff would fly.

Ha ha ha ha... some people just don't get it... and they never will. The only chance that this country can get any better is by getting rid of all the neo-cons in power. Otherwise wait for the next 9-11 (another fabricated one, that is).

It's like they tell you to extract your own tooth with a pair of pliers and not even bother to give you some Aleeve.

If ICE offered waiver of the 3 or 10 year ban after they self-deport and can start anew as if they never overstayed or entered illegally, would you think it would have been successful?

I would think so. But ICE never offered anything but 90 days to prepare for departure and non-detention.

Dan- I agree with you, but Congress would need to change the law.

More consequences of giving jobs to Americans first instead of the best qualified...

Fat executives pay because they give priority to Americans, huge ad expenditures during Olympics and now they want to charge food on international flights.

    Greg,

I think you're really misunderstanding the purpose of the program. The program was not created to be successful. Its purpose was to justify stronger enforcement measures. Later they will say "we tried a voluntary deportation program, but nobody participated, so now we need to go ahead with massive detentions".

    To quote from the article:

    >> Only eight people participated in the program, officials said. "Quite frankly, I think this proves the only method that works is enforcement," Jim Hayes, acting director of ICE's detention and removal operations, told The Associated Press on Thursday.

Perhaps you're right. But it made DHS and ICE look like fools.
