"In its lawsuit, the Programmers Guild said its members "will experience further job displacement, denials of job opportunities, wage depression and increase[d] job competition by a DHS estimate of 12,000 to 30,000 foreign workers.""

Perhaps if they make better products than the Minneapolis Bridge, the Space Shuttle tiles or O ring or the Levees in New Orleans which resulted in untold loss of lives, firms will be more willing to hire American workers. I will bet you these are the same people who dont want "less qualified" minorities getting jobs through affirmative action. What they are asking is Affirmative Action for themselves. Perhaps wage depression and displacement of at least some incompetent American workers who gave us the Minneapolis Bridge or the New Orleans levy is much deserve and long time in coming and if they cannot recruit better qualified foreigners here, they should send the jobs abroad depressing wages and denying employment to the incompetent workers who happen to be US citizens.

Having said all this, I will fight the Bush Admin if the Programmer's Guild can show me evidence that a poorly qualified foreigner with a low GPA is getting job over a well qualified American with a high GPA because the latter's prospective salary is high. To this day all I have seen from these clowns is the assertion that they should get the job because they are American even if their GPA is 2.0 vs a foreigner's GPA of 4.0..however, when it comes to Affirmative Action some of the members argue the opposite.
