IMMIGRANT OF THE DAY: TARA SUMMERS - ACTRESS

If you are a fan of ABC's Boston Legal (I count myself in that group), you already know British actress Tara Summers who plays Katie Lloyd, a junior lawyer. The talented young actress is a Brown University graduate and has written and starred in a one-woman play about her childhood.

I remember a time when 'The Practice' (when it was new) was receiving honors from legal profession mags. That's actually why I started watching it and although not hooked exactly I tuned in regularly. Then that show started getting progressively crazier but it was still pretty entertaining. An interesting episode was at the end when they showed how things would be in the future for, e.g., Jimmy The Grunt. When The Practice was transitioning into Boston Legal (I can't remember the original title but they actually had promos for the new show with that title airing at the end of The Practice's run) I thought it was still OK. I liked it when Rebecca DeMornay was on for a short time. What killed it for me was the Shattner-Spader relationship. To me the Shore character really went downhill and Crane's act got old. The show seemed really full of itself and I quit watching. I found a much better legal show called 'Justice' but unfortunately it didn't last. Neither did an inferior but still OK show with Don Johnson as an alcoholic beach bum attorney. Maybe I just liked it because it had a star of 'Undeclared' in it. Going back a few years, I thought the DA on 'Boomtown' was a semi-interesting legal character. The most offensive legal show I've ever seen is the departed 'Shark'. They literally mock due process and commit every form of ethics violation imaginable. I realize it's just drama but it could make you wince and was on a whole different level than, e.g., Alan Shore. It's more of a police show but I also like Law & Order Criminal Intent. Not sure if that's coming back.

No complaints from Mark Kirkorian or CIS for she looks just American as an apple pie!
