DHS ATTACKS NATION'S HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGERS

Rate this Entry

Stewart Baker, DHS' Assistant Secretary for policy, is pretty harsh in how he describes the motives of SHRM - the Society for Human Resource Management which has opposed E-Verify. Maybe the fact that so many groups are criticizing E-Verify's reliability means there is a real problem, Mr. Baker. The shrill tone of this blog post makes it sound like the criticism is starting to hit home.

Mr. Baker's tone in the SHRM posting is consistent with his approach in all his postings in the DHS leadership journal. Rather than discussing criticisms of DHS in a rational manner, he demonizes his opponents and sets up straw man arguments to support whatever action DHS wants to do. He also spends a lot of time attacking the NY Times and other news agencies who run articles critical of DHS.

In my opinion, he's just a bully and a blowhard. I hope that he will be swiftly shown the door when we get a new administration in January. If the door hits him on the way out, so much the better.

We all know that mandatory checking of every employee would effectively end much of illegal immigration. This is exactly why businesses are fighting E-verify implmentation. I'll bet none of those complaining have actually tried it. They don't want something that works. Totally predictable!
