IMMIGRATION VOICE URGING MEMBERS TO CONTACT HISPANIC CONGRESSMEN

Rating: 6 votes, 5.00 average.

I can sympathize with why members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus are blocking pro-immigration bills from moving in Congress. They fear that if pro-immigration bills move, they will lose key allies in pushing through measures of concern to the caucus, particularly when it comes to putting the twelve million illegally present immigrants on a path to a legalization.

However, it is unfair to block important bills from moving just because the politics on your issue are not as good as they should be. We have been on hold for several years now waiting on immigration reform and key bills have waited far too long.

Immigration Voice is urging that people contact members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to urge them to please allow pro-immigration bills to move. I support this effort and urge readers to go to IV to learn more. The CHC has made their point loud and clear.

The move by IV is commendable, but I do have a question why HR 5924 was not included in the message. It seems pretty obvious IV is not keen with regard to that bill.

HR 5924 does not have much chance and this is the reason. IV is smart and focussed

I wish to help the IV cause, but could someone explain me why the Hispanic members of Congress should care when I call? None of them is from my district. Why cannot they just ignore people nor from their district?

Irrespective of where you call from CHC has an interest in these bills. Even though it does not eliminate the back logs in Family based immigration they reduce the backlogs by doing a recapture and allowing recapture going forward.

CHC,IMO is trying to get the best solution with CIR next year by saying NO to every good legislation. Its time CHC wakes up and act instead of being adamant.

    AD,

HR5882 does in fact recapture family based visa numbers as well which will help citizens from Hispanic countries especially those who are from Mexico which is severely backlogged. I hope that the CHC members take note of this and support these bills.

Thanks Greg for your continued support.

Well, sometimes IV does good things. But if I remember right, last year, they wasted quite some money on lobbying in the Senate instead of the House. That was anything but "smart and focussed"...
And their fanboys are, like any fanboy (just read Slashdot comments for a while) rather annoying.

Watch JoeF eating a humble pie. Always against relief for EB community if not part of some crazy CIR.

"Well, sometimes IV does good things."

Well thanks JoeF, IV really needed your approval.
