MICHIGAN AILA CHAPTER URGES SECRETARY OF STATE TO BACK DOWN

Rate this Entry

Of course, if this were really about good public policy and not scoring political points, this letter wouldn't be necessary. When Michigan taxpayers pay millions in legal fees to the plaintiffs' attorneys when the state loses the law suit that will no doubt be filed in the next several weeks, I wonder if the politics will seem so smart.

I am happy to hear this, at least this new legislation would be in limbo

This letter is ancient history. It was sent on December 28th. Obviously it had no effect. Both the Secretary of State and the Attorney General are elected officials. So it appears that we cannot go to the Governor and ask her to overrule them. People need to prepare for legal actions.

No changes to the procedures for renewing a Michigan driver's license are being made at this time. If you already have a Michigan driver's license, you will be able to renew it even if you are not a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
