IMMIGRATION VOICE LAUNCHES ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES CAMPAIGN

Rate this Entry

With Congress paralyzed when it comes to making needed reforms to the legal immigration system, Immigration Voice has not given up. The grassroots organization is taking its fight to the White House and pushing for the Bush Administration to make changes to the immigration system that do not require the consent of Congress. IV is hoping for the following fixes.

o Recapture administratively the unused visas for permanent residency
to fulfill the congressional mandate of 140,000 green cards per year.

o Revise the administrative definition of "same or similar" to allow
slight additional job flexibility for legal immigrants awaiting
adjudication of adjustment of status (I-485) petitions.

o Allow filing of Adjustment of Status (Form I-485) when a visa number is not available.

o Implement the existing interim rule to allow issuance of multi-year
Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) and Advance Parole.

o Allow visa revalidation in the United States.

o Reinstate premium processing of Immigrant Petitions.

IV's plan involves pushing members of Congress to pressure the Administration and to also have employers and immigrants advocate directly. Sample letters and talking points are provided by IV.

Good luck folks!

    8. Adjustments of status must take place in the applicant's home country. The only purpose bouncing among the alphabet soup of visa categories serves is to feed immigration lawyers."

This should be fun. You may as well have waved a red flag before the Programmer's Guild.

    Thanks Greg!
As always there are many that worry about writing their name anywhere...is "Big Brother" really watching?
Please add to your blog post reassuring everyone that writing a letter with your name on it does not jeopardize an immigration application in any way! Your words on this would mean a lot.

What about FBI name check delays? That is a major break and bottleneck too!

NumbersUSA are idiots who don't understand the difference between Consular Processing and Adjustment of Status.

NumbersUSA doesn't make the laws in the country. Whatever may be their crazy dream of turning this country into a banana republic, it will always remain a dream - unfulfilled.

Aren't NumberUSA the same folks that sent faxes out to the Congress claiming H1b's don't pay Taxes??!!! Boy, wouldn't it be something to get a Tax break like that. Shows the lies they spread for their misguided efforts.
