KOWALSKI: OBAMA'S DISAPPOINTS IN FIRST DETAILED "INTERVIEW" ON IMMIGRATION

Rate this Entry

Dan Kowalski, editor of Bender's Immigration Bulletin, has some tough words for leading Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama, particularly concerning border enforcement measures. I tend to agree with Dan, but when it comes to the Democratic presidential candidates, we're grading on a curve. With the possible exceptions of John McCain and Rudy Guiliani who have good records and haven't succumbed to the anti-immigration mania in the GOP, the Republican contenders are likely are so bad that they wouldn't even answer interview questions from a pro-immigration group.

Also on the Immig Prof blog there was this disclaimer:
"Disclaimer: All three of us have served as members of an Immigration Policy Group for the Obama campaign. We drafted the questions as a group and did not play any role in formulating the responses"

Ha. No wonder everything was so canned.

Also annoying was the omission of any discussion of legal skilled workers.

Dan Kowalski obviously had unreasonably high expectations. Imm Prof blog is has been pretty worthless during the brief period when I was trying to follow it, any anyway we all knew what Obama was going to say on this issue, he said exactly what I thought he would.

BTW, Kowalski's own immigration bulletin is a gem: tons of original sources, great info; I am completely hooked, read it every day.
