DEM CANDIDATES TALK THE TALK, BUT WILL THEY WALK THE WALK?

Rate this Entry

Obama and Clinton promise comprehensive immigration reform as soon as they take office, but some are accusing the Democrats of doing just what the GOP is doing - telling its base what it wants to hear and having no intention of going to the mats to get the job done. Let's hope not.

This one it rings true the Dems could use Immigration as a carrot stick issue to have people continue suppoirting them and until is less politically risky to tackle immigration reform. This would be very dissapointing but unfortunatly a very real possibility. This is like saying if you trust a politician he will come thru for you.

There's an article in Roll Call today that the House Democrats are preparing a resolution stating that they "endorse laws already on the books that prevent illegal immigrants from participating in taxpayer-funded programs, such as Social Security or food stamps."

I honestly think that most of this migrant workers come here to work not to do food stamps. If they wanted to live in poverty they would have stayed back home. Either way the SS funds are over $100 billion and counting from un-match ss numbers off course the government is not going to give that back to anyone are you kidding me they are going to buy a few years of life for the program without having to give these immigrants anything in return and claim the political victory.

Drew, this resolution means no ******** sense. The laws are already on the books, why do they have to make a resolution they support them?

Legal and Waiting - You're right, its nothing new.

The vote is there because last year these freshman Democrats were attacked for wanting to "give your social security benefits to illegal aliens." Ads like this one against Tammy Duckworth last year are scary: http://youtube.com/watch?v=FkVBcG8hCsg&mode=related&search=

The hope is that these candidates can then say that they voted against giving benefits to illegal immigrants & maybe even get some bad TV ads taken off the air.

This event of turning-point of the Democratic parties to the issues of immigration would creat a real knock-out punch to the McCains' late changing-stand pronouncement of the issue...funny though.
Now everybody in the Dems candidates are embracing the immigration issues, left and right promising a path to citizenship to illegal aliens. But the question is, how far and in what way their support be, would still be a clout of numerous questions after taking oath in office. That's spice of polotical game, hahaaaa!
Politics is really interesting to know about.
