BUSINESS WEEK COVERS THE IV RALLY

Rate this Entry

Businessweek has a lengthy article discussing the IV rally and the evolution of the legal immigrant grassroots movement. Favorite quote:

Still, Kapoor's group is not to be taken lightly. Immigration Voice has
evolved quickly from a small Internet community set up for skilled
workers to share ideas and experiences into a well-organized political force
(BusinessWeek, 7/19/07). Over the summer the group organized a series
of events modeled after the nonviolent protests of Mahatma Gandhi and won reversal of a key U.S. State Dept. decision
(BusinessWeek, 7/17/07). Now, Kapoor and other top members are in
regular contact with elected officials and heads of government agencies
such as the Homeland Security Dept.

From the comments it seems it had all the negative effect it could have in mobilizing the anti-immigrants. Maybe we should really keep quiet and lobby silently (by shuffling the mighty dollar around).

Also judging from the comments, most of these anti-immigrants seem to believe that anybody who is not American doesn't have the right to protest. There still are people who hold the idea of slavery and second class citizenry very dear in their hearts.

Have a little faith. The squeaky wheel gets the grease under the US system. The anti-immigrants love to post comments on the web. Just look at this blog.

Aah but there is a huge distinction between legal immigrants and illegals who are by the very definition of law, not immigrants and something which this forum fails to recognize in a lot of discussions. It's insulting to put us in the same pot!

a2007 - Give it a rest. You've basically said the same thing over and over (and over) again. Do you have anything new to add to the discussion?

Clearly freedom of speech is not liked by this firm. I am very disappointed in the lack of your respect for freedom of speech. I guess you think you own the right. Very leftist attitude and just lost all respect for you!!!!

If you lacked freedom of speech, I would have just deleted your post (I have that ability, you know). But just because you have freedom of speech doesn't mean it's wise to say whatever pops in to your head.

No worries. I have lost the desire to participate. Life goes on beyond immigration for us and it was just a matter of time before my GC gets adjudicated anyway.

LOL! Did this conversation really just take place?

AV, be nice. I agree, he is an ignorant proud baffoon, but we have to do better than following his example. We should wish A best of luck and give him a warm welcome any time he comes back. It's called brotherhood ;-)

    Are we high skilled??????

    calling names like ignorant?? baffoon???

Keep the discussion civil for heaven sake..

Now a days i am also not using such words..

Oh, yes, we are. And there is nothing embarrasing about calling a duck what it is.

a2007, at least have some decency. Greg is probably one of the few attorney's who took the time to go to DC to support OUR cause.....regardless of what your opinion is on immigrants, legal or illegal, your response to Greg just proves your ignorance and bigotry.

"Aah but there is a huge distinction between legal immigrants and illegals who are by the very definition of law, not immigrants and something which this forum fails to recognize in a lot of discussions. It's insulting to put us in the same pot!"

No, it would be insulting to the undocumented to have you in the same pot.

Thank God for your departure, I don't think this blog needs people who beat the same old drum and can't prove themselves with effective arguments.....and you consider yourself a skilled immigrant, wow.

Hey Lou Dobbs' advocates, prepare for the second reckoning of immigrants impact in the future immgration bill.
