7Ah, one of my favorite magazine covers of all time.  I was reminded of it when I saw this story from the NY Times about the Social Security Administration warning that a judge's ruling delaying implementation of the no match rule would cause delays in mailing retirement benefits to millions of Americans? Why? Just trust us, it will.

The Chair should be commended for her courage in attempting to re-start CIR.

    Antis:

I am currently in London, England. BBC is showing on its Our World a program entitled "The Longest Journey." It discusses the "root cause" for illegal immigration. You folks ought to break away long enough from Lou Dobbs to see it. If you have satellite you might be able to catch it on BBC America.

And what was the root cause according to the report? I have BBC America on demand. I'll watch if it is on the list.

"And what was the root cause according to the report?"

I must apologize my post was unclear. The program has not yet aired (it will air on 9/12 and is scheduled to be repeated several times). BBC has been heavily advertising it and showing excerpts from the program. Apparently, they have a reporter embedded with the illegals as they make their way across the border. Should be fascinating to watch!

Below is a link which gives the dates, times and a description of the program.

    Ron Hira on NPR.

If any one is interested find out what is his stand on EB reform, keeping H1B aside. A point blank Q on whether he wants EB immigration or not should expose his double standard.

It's funny how the antis just stay on the same message no matter how much evidence there is out there to counter their claims. I think that strategy paid huge dividends when they took down CIR. All they did was been really loud and cried amnesty over and over!! Unfortunately they won

If the SSA is stating that if the no-match letters aren't sent out immediately then there will be problems, then the case made Oct. 1st by the AFL-CIO, ACLU, and NILC, seems very easy to make that the SSA won't be ready for this. I'm not a lawyer, but at the very least, I can't see how this no-match letter policy is not given a greater amount of time before any enforcement.
The SSA's statements seem short sited, and wildly peculiar.

Well, that's the gaffe of the campaign by Giuliani: "Rudy: Illegal Immigration Not a Crime"

He is running with the wrong party to make those kind of statements. Or he should have waited until after he got the nomination.

With Senators Craig, Warner and Hagel gone, the Republican party is all set to become even more extreme on how we deal with illegal immigration. On the plus side, the Democrats should be able to pick-up atleast Warner's and Hagel's (Bob Kerrey might run for Hagel's seat) seat. While I don't want to generalize the Democrats are usually better on immigration than the Republicans.

Seems like the business community is joining in the fight against the SSA no-match policy unilaterally made by the DHS.
The part in which the DHS didn't provide an economic impact assessment is informative.

After reading the Murthy Q&A about the rally, I'm starting to think that the last question may be incorrect. Is really carrying a state ID or driver's license sufficient? As far as I remember all non-citizens should carry a green-card or I-94 form, not just driver license. There was some law about this but I'm not sure if my recollection is right.
