POP STAR LILY ALLEN HAS WORK VISA REVOKED

Rate this Entry

Lily Allen, the British pop singer whose CD Smile topped the charts last summer, was detained for five hours last night at Los Angeles International Airport and had her work visa revoked. The reason for the revocation was an arrest for assault on a photographer outside a London nightclub in June for an incident that allegedly occurred in March. Ms. Allen has not stood trial for the arrest yet.

Ms. Allen was allowed to enter the country presumably in a parole status for a few weeks. This will allow her to attend the MTV Music Awards. But Ms. Allen's US tour, which begins in San Diego in September, is in jeopardy if the matter cannot be resolved.  Because Ms. Allen has only been accused of committing an assault, she should have a case to make that she is not inadmissible.

Hello all. Please be advised that the I-102 has been revised (as of 7/30/07) and on the first page of the instructions, we are directed NOT to use the I-102 if the I-94 was issued by CBP (at the airport or border). Meaning, the new I-102 can only be used if the I-94 that needs to be replaced was issued by USCIS on the 8x11 page/Notice of Action format. For the little white I-94 cards that we often find stapled into our clients' passports, we are directed to contact CBP. Of course, there are no further instructions and the CBP website does not have any obvious instructions or form related to this twist. If you come across this issue (which is probably the most common when dealing with lost I-94 cards) you will have to contact the CBP port of entry.

Yeah. She deserves it! That's what everybody who attacks poor journalists deserves. Somebody should think of the paparazzi too!

What about Russell Crowe?I remember he was arrested while in US for throwing telephone at a front desk employee. What kind of visa he was in?

Can we swap a Lilly for a Paris Hilton? I'll take someone that beats up photographers over drunk drivers any day. Actually, let's throw Nicole Ritchie and Britney in there as well. Maybe the Brits will enjoy their antics.
