I can tell you why. Apparently ANA made a "contribution"...

Durbin probably did some arm twisting and forced Schumer to yank it.

Very sorry to hear that! Now we starve and go home

SCHIP is next. He could attach it to that. The bill does deal with healthcare.

This is great news for us Doctors in the EB2 category. Since when are nurses more important than Doctors? The nurses were stealing our visas. Thank God Schumer had the sense to do this
  6. Indian Nurse's Avatar
    Dr. Bob,

If you were a real doctor, you would not ask such a question or have such an opinion since doctors know first hand how much suffering and neglect goes on if a health care facility in short on nursing staff. I am sure, Schumer withdrew it with a plan in his mind of reintroducing it with a better chance of passing. Good luck to all Schedule A well deserving people.

Hey, I'm not a real nurse either. What's your point?

    Indian Nurse:

Like you I am Indian, I am from Kerala. It is unfair to give you priority over us in EB2. We have been waiting a long time also. Nurses should be in EB3 and be waiting in line. We criticize the illegals for line jumping. You are trying to do the same. Please wait in line.

  9. Legal and waiting's Avatar
Pathetic, really pathetic. Real immigrants do not critisize illegals for line jumping - that's what anti-immigrants put in your head, and you are like a puppet reat whatever hogwash they give you. As a result, you are at each other's throat over a pathetic 60K visas - that's what anti-immigrants wanted, they divided the immigrant community and won.

Greg, please check out this link below...

Do you know what immigration bill this is, what exactly is Specter planning? This also mentions something about green cards for High tech workers. This sounds interesting, can you please update us.

What is really pathetic here is Senator Shumer who did nothing during the July 2nd visa fiasco but later tried to claim credit for the USCIS July 17th retraction.

Unforunately, the media savvy Senator was trying to create another publicity stunt by proposing another feel-good amendment without assessing its impact on the currently broken immigration system.

No wonder the US immigration system is nothing but a collection of half-baked laws and a plethora of pathetic amendments proposed by special interest controlled law makers........

Nice link. Sounds like a good effort by Specter.

    TX,

Specter is living in a dream world if he thinks the senate wants to revisit CIR again right now. It sounds like another form of amnesty for illegals, albeit less generous than the last CIR effort, but amnesty none the less. I wouldn't hold my breath on this one.

  14. NO DOCS, YAH NURSES's Avatar
All the idiots in this blog, yanking doesnt mean its practically dead. Get that on your super brain. This is why american doesnt welcome you here, all dumbs. Nurses are always important than doctors. What docs do, they read the report and prescribe. It can be done anywhere where they fax report and the medicine is prescribed. Even these days due to "medical tourist" influence, America needs more nurses than freakin doctors.
  15. I's Avatar
NO DOCS, YAH NURSES, your vulgar style is pitiable.

From HLG (Immigration attorneys specializing in health care workers)

UPDATE: The amendment has been withdrawn but that doesn't necessarily mean that it is permanently withdrawn. The issue seems to be whether or not the leaders will allow any amendments that touch immigration be offered on this bill.

There seems to be one thing or another that scuttles every piece of legislation that has to do with immigration.

    Dr. Bob,

You are the most STUPID, IGNORANT doctor I have ever seen. You are in EB2 category which is always current. Why do you give such comments? Are you sure you finished MD? Maybe you are just a quack doctor and must remain in your country for good!
  18. proctologist's Avatar
What education do nurses really need? High-school and two years of vocational training? Get over it. This is not a job that "American don't want to do". These are artificial shortages created by ANA to keep salaries high. Even the training requirements to be a nurse are artificial. Really, pack up and forget about it! Nursing is not rocket science! Anybody could do it. It is more likely we'll need more engineers to keep those life-support machines running.
  19. fred's Avatar
Well. Apparently nurses don't have their own category because nobody in Congress believes they are high-skilled labor. Nobody believes that more nurses cannot be trained in the US either. And rightly so!
  20. Dr Bob's Avatar
All nurses posting here. Those of us in health care know how you treat patients. Now you have shown the rest of the world your attitude & behaviour.

Just to make my position clear. If a physician has a labour certification that means his employer has proven a shortage. We are in health care just like you. You should not receive special treatment. I am not the one who is "stupid" or "ignorant" those indulging in these type of personal attacks should look at the EB2 numbers for India for April, May & June and then decide who is the "idiot"
