HUTCHISON TOUCHBACK AMENDMENT TABLED

Rate this Entry

An amendment to require Z visa applicants to "touch back" outside the US at the time of switching to Z visa rather than later on as called for in the current bill has been defeated via tabling. Because of some quirky legislative rules, the only way to defeat an amendment and be able to move on is to table a bill rather than have an actual vote on it.

Up now is the Webb Amendment which would significantly reduce the number of people eligible for Z visas by making the legalization program only open to people in the US before 2003 (right now anyone here before this year would have a chance).
