Hammond Law Firm on Nurse Immigration

CIR and Schedule A

Rate this Entry
One of the significant immigration issues that the Obama administration will face is how to handle the Hispanic-Americans' political leadership's insistence that a large legalization bill is quickly passed into law, such as Comprehensive Immigration Reform. How the Obama administration handles such an issue will impact chances of Schedule A (Registered Nurse and Physical Therapist) visa relief.

HLG's Mike Hammond attended last week's AILA Mid-Year convention where AILA's lobbyists opined that a CIR-type bill could be in the cards for the second half of this year. An article on the Dallas News' website offers differing opinions on the likelihood of CIR in 2009.

For those hoping for Schedule A visa relief, there are only three possible outcomes: (A) CIR that includes Schedule A relief, (B) special legislation such as last year's HR 5294, or (C) simply waiting out the Visa Bulletin. Our hope is that the politicans choose A or B, instead of C.
