The Boston bombing is a horrible thing. But the country and its people should not get carried away by the hype that the two suspects are LPRs or perhaps naturalized citizens. Remember, one of the first that was tackled as a potential suspect was a Saudi man, who was able very shortly to show he was not involved. And one of the heroes of the day, the guy in the cowboy hat, is an immigrant. While Representative Steve King warns that the bombings are a reminder that immigration could endanger public safety, "it's a notable irony that Arredondo came to the U.S. without authorization 33 years ago when he was 19 years old." He naturalized after his son died in the Iraq conflict in 2004.

Finally, one of the reasons the 11 to 12 million or so "illegal aliens" are still here is because so many of them fly successfully under the radar. Many of them don't commit crimes. 50 to 70 per cent of those deported the past few years have no criminal record at all, not even parking tickets.

Immigration does not endanger the American people. People with bombs and guns do.

******Help Make the AILA ExCom Children Feel Better******

    Dear ILW Reader:
You're quite likely a successful immigration attorney, making loads of money. But not everyone is as fortunate as you.
Take, for example, little Davey and his playmate Chrystal. Davey runs his own law practice, has had a seat on the ExCom since the Paleolithic Era, and likes to wear his little tinfoil crown which says "General Counsel" on it. His sandbox colleague, Crystal, earns only about $300,000 per year and is constantly busy with her "real work" to do. Although outwardly successful, inside they cry themselves to sleep every night because they think no one loves them.
    It's sad, isn't it?
But you can help! All these two little ones need is some good lovin' and a teddy bear each. So won't you please help?
Send your contribution to the " Please Don't Cry, Davey and Crystal Fund" at 1331 G Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005.
    Make these kids happy!

CIR 2013 bill didn't mention anything about whether ones who are in Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and asylum seekers who are granted Witholding of Removal status can ever make their status permanent and be full US citizens someday. There is something missing here that we need to address and tell our lawmakers to include them.
