I think what the ICE has done is right by deporting such illegal immigrants
as it won't be repeated by others.

I was reading the article that is mentioned above. It really touches home with me because I am an American married to an immigrant from the Dominican Republic. He is currently facing drug charges and deportation. this will be his first conviction. I husband did wrong but regrets it terribly but he was in a bad spot. He got laid off from work in 2009 the same month that I had bought my house. Three months later I was laid off from work from a job that basically paid for everything. My husband had worked at night while I worked in the day. He watched over our daughter and took care of her. After a long search of employment and no success, he turned to an illegal way to make money. I was not aware of it and I went on with my daily activities. I had gone back to school after being laided off and worked for free at an attorney's office to gain experience.

March 26, 2010 was the worst day of my life. I had police block me in my driveway at my home when i was leaving to go get my daughter from childcare. My husband to my understanding was helping a friend at a local garage with his daily duties until he was able to find work (at least that is what I thought he was doing). I had never been so embarrassed in my life. I never thought that this would happen to me. I was also arrested on drug charges. This was very hard on my family and friends to have to see this on the front page of the paper for days. My mother a respectable retired minister and who works for The Salvation Army for the last 33 years had to face all of this.

I had always worked my hole life and took care of my kids and on this day and after i was treated like a life long criminal. My husband was caught with 27 grams of cocaine and had a $75K bail on him. It was like he killed someone! People get arrested for more then that and they are released on $5k and back on the streets. Not my husband he was in jail for 3 months until they finally lowered the bail to $5K but would have to remain on house arrest and pre-trial probation. It has been over two years and this is still going on. I have to work day and night while my husband is home with our daughter. This is his only child and this is all she knows and now they want to send him to jail for 2 to 3 years in state prison then deport him after. I am beside myself and i don't know what to do. I am used to fixing problems and this one i can not fix. What ever happen to a second chance?

I cry everyday because i worry about my daughter and her father. He is so depressed and life these days have been rough and tough. My daughter feels it and she is only 5 years old but she knows something is wrong. He had an appointment the other day and he was not in the house and she started to freak out asking where her papi is and crying. She knows and i do not know what I am going to do when the time comes where they take him away from us. I am sorry to tell you my story but the article is my family and yes it is going to hurt my daughter and myself. We have been together since July of 2004, I know it is not twenty years but this is my life and this is what we know. To have it riped from us it is going to be very hard and I know she will be facing a hard time ahead of her.

I am not from New York, but I am from the Boston, MA area and I see this all the time. I work at a law firm in the day and have an attorney friend that does deal with the immigration on a daily base. I only wish that Obama would do something about all of this and honor what he claims he wants to and going to do.

Thank you for listening to me and I pray everyday for something to happen with these immigration laws. I agree with punishment and my husband deserves to be punished but not taken away from his family. he is a good man and has a good heart and made a wrong decision but everyone does in there life time.

    Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am separated from my family for almost two years. I have read the entire article and picture my family completely.

    Greetings,

This is a great article! So, what's next? How can we repeal the INA 214b? Can this letter be forwarded to the U.S. Department of State?
