way around."

  1. Roger Algase, Attorney at Law's Avatar
What an incredibly weak statement by President Obama on immigration reform! He appreciates the efforts of grassroots organizations to "create a favorable climate for reform". What on earth does that mean? Barack Obama happens to be the President of the United States. If he cannot create a favorable climate for immigration reform, who can?

There are a couple of things that Obama could do to create a more favorable climate for immigration reform right now. One would be to tell DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano to pack her bags and head back to Arizona pronto. Another would be to find out who appointed Donald Neufeld to his high position in the USCIS and have that official fired or demoted (together with Neufeld, of course) forthwith.

The last thing that immigration reform needs are officials in charge of the immigration system who do not understand what the concept of immigrant rights means and who are only interested in protecting themselves by appeasing anti-immigrant demagogues like Senator Grassley, Congressman Bilbray, former Congressmen Tancredo and Hayworth and their supporters.
  2. Roger Algase, Attorney at Law's Avatar
One other question: How can there be real immigration reform while the Obama administration foxes are guarding the chicken coup of America's immigration system?
  3. Roger Algase, Attorney at Law's Avatar
At the risk of wearing out my welcome by making multiple comments in the same ID issue, I would like to put in a brief word about Angelo A. Paparelli's hilarious and appropriate article "Waiting for Barack". Mr. Paparelli states that the public is waiting for the drama of immigration reform to begin. I would suggest that the play is already well under way. However, just as was the case in Samuel Beckett's play "Waiting for Godot", of which "Waiting for Barack" is obviously the updated version, the main character never shows up.

  4. kaushik's Avatar
I want our President Mr. Obama to start working in this direction by offering some relief to legal immigrants especially to those who are technically sound and paying high taxes in our country, I repeat LEGAL IMMIGRANTS and I am sure positive response will start from all over the country.
