1.  COMMENT

Freezing ICE

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has ordered a review
of the ICE raid in Bellingham, WA. The New York Times
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/26/washington/26immig.html
reports   "A high-level official in the Department of Homeland
Security said that Ms. Napolitano had not been informed about the
raid on Tuesday before it happened, and that she was seeking
details about its planning and scope. 'She was not happy about it
because it's inconsistent with her position, and the president's
position on these matters,' " This is the chance for the new
administration to set policy for ICE based on the
administration's professed positions and values.

(a) Dear Editor:
Visa waiver program is actually racist in nature. Not all
citizens of the VWP beneficiaries are rich and have no intention
to work here illegally, and not all developing nations citizens
are poor folks who will do dish washing for less than minimum
wage here. Instead of begging Chinese to buy our Treasury Bonds
(our debt) why not inviting them to visit US and spend their
money here to stimulate our economy, only the wealthy ones of
course. It's time for us to enact guarantor visa system. It's
smart, and it's a common sense policy. Foreigners who wish to get
visas must have third parties to guarantee that they will
faithfully obey the terms and conditions of their visas.
Argentina was once a beneficiary of VWP when it was prosperous
enough to be trusted, but then we took it away because the nation
was in economy chaos and bankruptcy, the same should apply to
Iceland and maybe UK if it goes under as well, and maybe other
nations will impose the same restrictions on us, if we go under
with such a huge debt we can't never imagine how to pay them off.
Yes, it's so unfair to be poor folks living in a bankrupt and
corrupt nation and have no rights to improve themselves to
immigrate to other lands, then hopefully we or our children won't
experience the same unfair and unfortunate faith in the future.
Robert Yang

(b) Dear Editor:
Regarding S. Sheplov's letter (02/26/09 ID): Apparently, it is
the goal of the entry enthusiasts to be the ones with the most
"compassion" as our ship of state, like the Titanic, sinks slowly
to the bottom of the sea. Clearly (for most), the huge problem
today is overwhelming numbers, both for US and the World. It is
the goal of restrictionists to act responsibly by limiting entry
numbers to prevent otherwise unavoidable tragedy rather than
trying to pack as many entrants legal or illegal here regardless
of our rule of laws, quality of life, national sovereignty or
social cohesion. As Frosty Wooldridge's 2/23/9 newswithviews.com
article states: "Today, at 306 million citizens, America adds 3.1
to 3.4 million annually. U.S. population projections show America
adding 100 million by 2035, a mere 26 years from now. (PEW
Report: US Population Projections, March 2006)  Globally, humans
add 77 million annually, net gain. That increase expects human
planet expansion to multiply from 6.7 billion to a low of 9.2
billion to as high as 9.8 billion in 41 years--2050.
(populationmedia.org). The human race gallops toward a collision
with its own numbers." The reason our entry system is "broken" is
the direct result of so-called experts grasping the
"complexities" with a "reasoned diagnosis" as they did in l965,
1986 and elsewhere all for the narrow benefit of profiteers,
ideologues, special interests and foreigners. Eliminating visa
waivers would not stop tourists, only terrorists. A "moratorium"
would be drastic, but not "draconian" and compatible with "the
principle of proportionality" because of the excesses of the past
and present, including ID's Comment of "Revolutionary Solution"
(02/25/09 ID) which schemes to bypass our representative form of
government by executive fiat for a dubious purpose. What could be
more foolish or un-American?
