Bloggings: America Needs To Deal With The Real Threats From Our Own Failed Policies - Not An Imaginary Threat From Immigration. By Roger Algase

American media are so caught up in the trivia of politics that sometimes one has to look to overseas publications to see the big picture. To take one example, anyone who has been following this writer's comments in ID knows that I am not a big fan of Mitt Romney.

In contrast to some of my respected colleagues who not only believe, with good reason, that the Obama presidency has been a disaster for immigration, but also think that no alternative could possibly be any worse, I believe that Romney's far right extremist anti-immigrant demagoguery during the Republican primaries should be taken seriously.

Even if Romney did not really believe any of his own anti-immigrant campaign rhetoric, Romney would still be beholden to his party's far right wing (is there any other wing?) if elected president.

If Romney becomes president, through a combination of Republican voter suppression laws and billionaire super-pacs, there is every chance that America will feel the full force of the extreme right Republican anti-immigrant agenda - criminalizing the entire immigration system, abolishing or limiting 14th Amendment birthright citizenship (which would not require a Constitutional amendment, but would need only one 5-4 Supreme Court decision), and taking away even the current facade of "prosecutorial discretion" and "deferred action" from the fortunate few who might benefit.

A "temporary" moratorium on some or all types of immigration is also by no means impossible if Romney and the Republicans take power. This is virtually a demographic imperative for the GOP. What would the pretexts be?  The answer is easy: "We have to secure the border, eliminate fraud, and make sure that every single one of the 12 million people who have illegally invaded our country, are destroying our culture and are wasting our taxpayers' money in violation of our sovereignty, and their anchor babies, go back to their countries before we can admit any more legal immigrants."

But, despite this, I have to take Romney's side on one issue: Can we forget all the trivial nonsense about when Romney really left Bain Capital? Big deal. With this by way of introduction, let's take a look at the big picture of what is happening in America.. A good start is an article in The Guardian by Michael Cohen dated July 25.

Cohen describes the huge amount of resources that America has devoted in the past decade to fighting against the outside threat of terrorism in the wake of 9/11. He estimates that the US has spent more that $3 trillion since that time in combating terrorism, not counting the cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. And yet, he writes, there is criticism from both Democrats and Republicans of efforts to lower defense spending even to the unjustifiably high levels of five years ago. He also writes:

"In short, even as the obvious threat from terrorism has decreased, the US continues to squander blood and treasure in fighting it."

Cohen then contrasts this overallocation of resources to fighting outside threats with the neglect of the most essential needs of a large part of our population at home:

"Contrast this mobilization, with efforts, for example, to save the lives of those Americans who die from lack of healthcare coverage. From 2000 to 2006 - a time when the war on terrorism was operating at full speed - 137,0000 Americans died prematurely because they didn't have health insurance."... This isn't even to mention the creeping reality of global warming, which has the potential to threaten the homes and livelihoods of millions. And then, of course, there is America's high rate of gun-related deaths."

He continues:

The reasons for this odd situation - in which Americans overreact to foreign challenges and barely react to real and growing domestic threats -  are many... But whatever the reason, the result is the same - a nation that... is rotting from the inside because it has yet to come to grips with its own domestic maladies."

For all too many Americans swayed by hate propaganda, immigration is also perceived as a threat from outside - one which "justifies" wasting billions of dollars on border fences, the immigration detention gulag and a big increase in border patrol and internal enforcement personnel at a time when badly needed teachers, firefighters, police officers and postal workers are being laid off in droves.

At the same time, the reality of human suffering  - to immigrants and American citizens alike - from our resistance to demographic change, from our search for scapegoats, and from our neglect of the basic needs and rights of large sectors of our population in favor of promoting the interests of the privileged few, is being ignored. No fair or rational immigration system or reform can come out of this environment. It is time for America to stop focusing on outside bogeymen and to deal with the real needs of our own people - immigrants included.

WHY IS IT NOT A FELONY TO ENTER AMERICA ILLEGALLY?
Once illegal aliens swarm into America because of the Liberal courts the laws are so restricted, that it's a free-for-all for immigration attorneys. Once captured and detained ICE agents hands are tied, when illegal aliens should be given a quick kick in the butt and dumped beyond the fence or demands the country where they are from, should pay their fair home. Countries that refuse to receive them back should be heavily sanctioned and any aid completely disengaged. People, who steal or procure a victim's identity, should be locked up in one of Sheriff Joe Arpaio's tent city in Arizona and then deported. But this will never happen, as if illegal aliens can arrive here and get nothing but a civil punishment, then are able to pilfer state economies--what chance do American taxpayers have against the illegal alien lovers, except for voting in as many conservative True TEA PARTY politicians?

I have no love for either President Obama or Mitt Romney, but as an Independent my vote is going for the Republicans. I believe in a new America and that is the TEA PARTY. God help us if we had another four years of individuals like U.S. Attorney as Eric Holder, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano or any of the Imperialist Czars in this administration. All I have seen is the theft of our nation's sovereignty such as Arizona, which had been ground zero for illegal alien pampering. Every American who reads between the lines of the bloated rhetoric from the Justice Department, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder or that Janet Napolitano of Homeland Security who always seems to have a sneer on her face, when addressing oversight committees. These people have the nerve to say America is well protected against invasion? Take a drive along the Southern Border and once you get out of the populated areas, there is nothing to stop the movement of criminal aliens, terrorist murderers or anybody from walking into the United States.

Will the inception of the DREAM ACT that offers an estimated 1.5 million young illegal aliens a back door amnesty. Unfortunately this is a time when 8 million citizens and legal residents are eager to find jobs. With the backing of radical groups like La Raza, who are being financially catered to by the Obama Socialists, this doesn't mean the PARENTS ARE FREE OF DEPORTATION. Once the kids are supposedly vetted by the State Department, they will be allowed to stay. However if the processing is anything like that was operational in the 1986 Immigration Control & Reform Act (ICRA) then the amnesty will be rife with fraudulent documentation. My guess with the assistance of the different entities, hundreds of thousands of so called illegal alien children will gain entrance through poor procedures. Then again illegal alien parents will be exposed, because of physical addresses will be shown on the record and open to being brought into custody. The TEA PARTY holds with contempt of any laws that are not abiding by the U.S. Constitution, and it could lead with rescinding any policies that were passed by the Barack Obama.

IT'S INCOMPREHENSIBLE THAT ENTERING AMERICA WITHOUT A VISA IS NOT A FELONY. ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS A CRIME AND SHOULD BE DEALT WITH AS SUCH? For taxpayers and TEA PARTY voters in Arizona, these are a few of the legislators that should be out-voted and thrown out. They obviously don't seem to care if illegal aliens go on a financial feeding frenzy as they have in California, Nevada and many of the 50 states. But not even the federal government don't care when they let illegal alien parents steal 4.6 billion dollars in child care refunds, that they are not entitled too.

THERE ARE PLENTY MORE OF LEGISLATORS WHO ARE FOR OPEN BORDERS & FOR TAXPAYERS TO PAY FOR IT ALL?

Isn't it time the politicians living the high life in Washington, do something for the American taxpayers? Isn't it time we stopped being scammed by illegal aliens for over $100 billion dollars? Isn't it time we enacted the 'Legal Workforce Act (H.R. 2885) and the Birthright citizenship Act (H.R.140)? Isn't it time that the state of Arizona gets to keep its money, instead of forced by unfunded mandates to pay for illegal aliens and their children? All those who genuflect to the 20 million plus illegal aliens will be under an attack themselves, when the TEA PARTY becomes an overall majority in the Republican Party. You know the Liberal-Democrats will desperately do anything to draw away from the terrible drowning economy policies of the Obama Administrations, such as going after Arizona or any other state that are trying to defend their legal population from the illegal alien welfare parasites.

INSTEAD OF TAXPAYERS STANDING ON THE OUTSIDE OF EITHER THE "LEGAL WORKFORCE ACT" OR A SIMPLE AMENDMENT TO THE "BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP" LAW, CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES AND DEMAND IT BE BROUGHT TO FLOOR OF THE HOUSE FOR A VOTE? IT'S THE CASH IN YOUR POCKET BEING EXTRACTED TO PAY FOR THE CHILDREN OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. Citizen voters should phone Congress at the central Switchboard at 202-224-3121. Insist YOUR CONGRESSMAN/WOMAN TO fulfill their obligation to the oath of office and stop pandering to the businesses that use cheap labor, or the Democrats who are overlooking illegal aliens who are voting.

Both political party pro-illegal immigrant supporters will be seeing the exit to their seats as Senators and House Congressman in November or even earlier. You cannot even count how many TEA BAGGER'S there are now, as they are from every skin color, religion and party affiliate. These are the millions of Americans who have seen enough incompetence, greed and power. The TEA PARTY will clean Washington of all the lawmakers who do the bidding of campaign contributors, the special interest organization, radical ethnic groups, church, unions and a whole slew of entities. Better be very aware in any election as illegal aliens will be voting if Obama's czarist get their way. I am a TEA PARTY person and I am sick of paying for people want don't want to work collecting welfare and catering to anybody who can smuggle themselves through airports or access the border into this sovereign country. The U.S Attorney General Eric Holder is nothing but a heavy duty Socialist and he will be quickly removed from office. Under Obama we are becoming a nation of dependents, as with Europe--spending money we no longer have. Now the Obama miscreants are driving up the U.S. Treasury deficit, by offering illegal aliens food stamps.

I THINK IT'S AMUSING THAT THE LIBERAL STATE OF SANCTUARY CALIFORNIA ARE GOING TO BE BOMBARDED BY MILLIONS OF ILLEGAL ALIENS SCATTERING FROM MORE HARSH STATES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. GIVING OUT FREELY PUBLIC MONEY AND WELFARE TO ILLEGAL ALIENS IS JUST LIKE A GIANT MAGNET. IT WAS INEVITABLE THAT CITIES AS STOCKTON AND VERY LIKELY COMPTON, SAN BERNARDINO, FRESNO AND VALLEJO SO FAR? CITIES TRAUMATIZED BY THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION INVADERS, WHO ARE USING STOLEN SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS OF IDENTITY TO RIP OFF TAXPAYERS.

Dave Francis' hate filled rant is a good example of why it is so hard to have real immigration reform in America. But we should not blame Mr. Francis personally for this state of affairs. Instead, we should blame the cowardly politicians in both parties who are trying to curry favor with people like him.
